I mowed yards when i was a kid in a small town in Kansas and didnt know it at the time but one of the guys i mowed for was a friend of Reds, I guess they was in the service together I think . Red used to come visit his friend which lived 2 houses away from us and we never knew, guess it was hush, hush so they was not bothered. Oh yes by the way our neighbor's name was Clem, I wonder.

Another of Red's funny characters was George Appleby. Not as funny as his hobo clown Freddy the Freeloader but still a good laugh.
I'm sure you all remember his "Gertrude & Heathcliff" flying seagulls routines! 😁
My dad liked Red enough to always watch his show, along with Lawrence Welk, and Hee Haw. One year for a Halloween party, my ole man dressed up like Freddy the Freeloader. He did look a lot like Skelton to begin with and his costume came right out of some super cheap rummage sale someplace. People at the party first wondered if he was the real deal! Sure do wish I would have been a camera junkie back in those days! Only pictures I have are in my brain of memories.

Not widely known.....but Red also enjoyed fine rifles and shotguns.

From the inlay in the stock it might possibly be a ''Running Boar'' rifle.
The scope appears to have two windage dials on top for 'Running Boar" also. l've seen a couple of these scopes here on GB.
TWO separate vertical lines or posts lines adjustable in order to adjust the lead on the boar as it goes by.
Running Boar used to be an Olympic Shooting Venue. l think it was shot at 50 meters

Hee haw was a given at our house and dy then I was old enought to take olive of the hee haw honeys
As for Lawrence w the TV was turned off or to our other channel we could get I never Seen more than a few seconds of that show
But Ed Sullivan and Walt Disney and any western or country music show my dad was in favor of thinking back Walt Disney I think us kids just out voted him on that one
Later on Rowen and Martin was a staple

I have fond memories of laying on the floor with my head propped up by my hands watching all those old shows from the 50's. The 3 Stooges were my favorite, along with Annette Funicello, Ed Sullivan, and many others.
The good old days.

Nice Weatherby rifle! I read he was a good friend and customer of Roy Weatherby. In fact, if the picture was totally shown, I don't doubt that Roy is standing there beside him.
Yes.....it's a nice rifle, but not a Weatherby.
Red is holding an O'Brien Rifle.....and from the barrel length, probably in 17 Magnum.
Vern O'Brien built these style rifles in the mid 1960's, in Las Vegas. He would sometimes have them on display at the Golden Nugget, where he had a day job. Other celebs also bought some of his rifles......Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Don Adams(Agent 86).......
The picture was taken in Red's Golden Nugget dressing room......with Vern's brother Mickey to Red's left.

Then tramps. They would do work if they had to but preferred to ask for handouts. Some dishonesty, maybe.
Then came bums. These men wouldn't work at all, and would steal whatever they could.
Finally were the bindlestiffs. These were so low that they would steal from hobos, tramps, or even bums.

Folk t.v. has him on at 8 p.m. on weeknights. That's ch 218 on Dish Network. I think some of the other providers also carry Folk t.v. as well. Bob
