I remember my dad bought a new 69 Torino 351 automatic I remember the sticker price was just a few dollars over 3k I dont know waht he actually had to pay
they had a 428 version but I could not get him to buy it LOL
way back when newspapers were it I would search out the car adds they came out on Thursday and the for sals listings were every day its sad now to think of all the muscle and classic cars that sold for 500.00 to 2k
and when I was a bit older I remember my buddies' buying cars for 50.00 to 200.00 running and driving seems crazy now

My 1969 cougar convertible cost me $1000.00 in 1971from the dealers wholesale auction. I bought a 1970 corvette convertible for $1800.00 in 1978 . Was working at state mental hospital and bringing home $450.00 a month after taxes .

Right Horse Plains Drifter. In 1969 I started at GM working for $715/mo. I didn't realize the quarterly payments when I started though. I bought a new '69 Vette coupe 350/350 for $5,200. In 20000 I paid $52,000 fyor a new Vette conv't. As a young girl told me once after closing all the bars in Deadwood, "Jeff, timing is everything". 😜

I bought the 70 Maverick in 73, used with 16K miles for 900 bucks. Had a straight 6 engine and 3 on the tree manual shift. Many may not like the old Mavericks, but I have some great memories of my life with that car and all the adventures it took me on!

My 1970 Dodge Challenger which I ordered with a 440 magnum and a "slap stick" automatic tranny was $4200. out the door, tax,tag and title.
Fast car.

He loved racing and influenced me greatly sold me my first car a cherry 65 289 Mustang then helped me hot rod it
Any way he bought a 70 maverick grabber 302 4 speed new .he added headers and changed cams and gearing it was bright green with black grabber straps and trim
he drove it as family car and raced on weekends
He had so many old desirable ford's now days it would be great to have them

I was telling my wife that I remember when you could buy an old,running car for $25.,a pretty good car for $50. and a good car for $100. She said that is what shoes cost now.

My grandfather bought this one new in 1969 for 2165.00. Has a 360 with 3 on the tree

If I recall correctly.......my first car......a brand new red 68 GTO was $3126 TT&L....out the door.

Reminds me of finding an old dealership envelope, and the sales receipt, dated 1978, amongst Mom and Dad's stuff, while boxing up everything the last time they moved a few years ago. Canary Yellow 1972 El Camino SS 454, with a Muncie M22, sitting on Cragars. $1995. Oof. That hurts. Showed it to Dad. "You gotta be sh***ing me! I still have that? Good luck finding one that cheap now, Junior!"

I remember so many great times in my cars so many of them at drive ins and never even seeing the movies lol
I think now how back then wha we coluld and did do even in just one bucket front seat or a small back seat omg
Now just getting in or out of my old camaro is a challenge. Or any car or truck for that matter
it seems My body has lost 90% of its flexibility having a bad back and knees does not help
being young had it's advantages of course back then insentives were a lot better and sure come into play
Above all I miss crusing and street racing as much as the drive in encountered extras
Will add Going to Woodward dream cruse in the fall in (detroit )of each year is a great time if you enjoy cars
For a brief time around all the gear and motor heads sure peals back a lot of years for me back to when I was a wild child on the streets days long gone and fading memories

Bought one of these right out of the service in Nov. of 1969. I paid $3150 for it with payments of $105. I saw one go for $85K at auction this year. I sold mine to a lawyer for his son, two weeks later he rolled it and put himself and his girlfriend in the hospital. I went to the towing company to see the car, it was totaled. ðŸ˜

Yep after this we went on the petrol dollar UnderTricky Dick when he remove the gold standard. I wonder how much gold it takes today to buy comparable automobile? 15 ounces or so?
Forty Six dollars per troy ounce in 1972 so 15 times 46 equals close to 700 dollars,for 15 ounces of gold?
That is how much we have been sold out for The NWO central banking petrol dollar. No wonder the Arabs raised gasoline to over 2.00 a gallon in 1970's.

First gas I bought was $.379/gallon but I seldom had enough money to fill the tank full on my '66 Pontiac Catalina.

After the first Arab oil embargo, muscle cars sold cheap. A Dodge dealer had a used Superbird that sat on the lot for months.

As a college student, there was a perpetual gas war in the town, with prices $0.239 to $0.259 most of the time. My buddy and I would cruise the Sonic Drive-in all Saturday night in his Chevelle for $.30. Price for Regular back home averaged $0.409.

Seems like just a bucks worth of gas was enough to get you home when you may have strayed a bit too far back in the day!
Today, it would be hard to stop the pump at a dollar even. It would only take a millisecond!

If you put a dollar in it you would be going from pump one to pump six.
