Very cool car ad from the past

My 1st car was a 1959 Studebaker Lark with a bashed in drivers door. It cost $200. My uncle pulled out the 6 cylinder replaced it w/the 259 v8. What a loser!

Speaking of gas
Some of my buddies way back in time a life time ago
A lot of there gas came from parking lots or neighbors and a 4 foot long credit card
But I also Remember them pulling into local gas stations and going all out .
with what ever change they could come with found in the car or there pockets
No kidding I remember them saying put in 72 cents or 57 cents even a dollar on rare occasions omg
This was back when the attend would come out pump gas and do all checks like the tires and oil .
Needless to say they made more than a few mad
Especially when it was raining out side
I would be too (mad )go out into the rain and hear put it 67 cents worth
What little money they did have went for party supplys

Oh YEA!! And back then gas had a name......"Give me a bucks worth of Ethyl PLEASE!" 😁

Bought one of these right out of the service in Nov. of 1969. I paid $3150 for it with payments of $105. I saw one go for $85K at auction this year. I sold mine to a lawyer for his son, two weeks later he rolled it and put himself and his girlfriend in the hospital. I went to the towing company to see the car, it was totaled. 😭
I bought one of those at a Fort Wayne Indiana auction... In Red... it ran terrible... took it home and had the wrong spark plugs in it.. regular 302 plugs not 302 Boss.... Kept that car, had fun and made a bundle on it when it was sold.

Back in 1981 I was with a buddy who had one. We barreled rolled it about four tumbles down a ditch line one night. Broke my back in two places

I did not start working until 1974 and 1.35 a hour .there was no new cars or even 1970 cars in my financial bracket
I do remember looking at a true hemi roadrunner around 1976 bit 6500.00 was

My neighbor has a 1969 Ford truck.....completely rebuilt and restored.....Pretty !!!
Think I will show him the add above and see if he will take $2155 for it 😛

Around 1976 or so
I did buy a 1970 purple 340 4 speed duster for 800.00
At a local used car dealership I found the previous owner was the older sister to a guy I went to school with
I found a blanket in the trunk she must have just traded in the car And theyhadnot even cleaned it up
I called her she laughed and said well I got a lot of use out of that blanket when parking in the country . Hint hint .I hope you can put it to use .. lol
.I think my payments were less than 50.00 a month for the car

As a kid there was a AMC dealer in town I think combined with another maybe Ford I was young and not recall but any way they had a red white and blue AMC "machine" on display the hod scoop drew me to it and I remember tyring to get dad to buy it in place of the torino dad a big time Ford fan said it's junk just a rambler or something to that effect

My dad and uncles on mom's side
all were big time Ford any thing else was not even a car
My first three cars were all mustangs
I bought a 69 camaro OMG
it was a mortal sin to buy a Chevy I got so much back lash over buying it that was around 1976 ,
by the way I still have the camaro i have it torn down in my garage for now
My dad and all my uncles are are departed but there devotion to Ford was back when brand loyalty was a religion

Despite its underdog place in the automotive pecking order, Rambler did enjoy a loyal following thanks to its reputation for reliability and economical operation. Motor Trend magazine liked the Rambler line so much that it bestowed its coveted 'Car of the Year' award to the marque for its entire '63 lineup.

Do you think 40 years from now any (maybe a couple granted )sold today
Even cars from ten to twenty years old already .
will have such a following or market As the older cars that had style and there own personailty .
Remember when even a mile away you could tell what car it was even from the taillights . And no mistaking most any car for 20 more models and manufactures products like it
Maybe I just like the old cars too much
They had there issues and life spans were short granted but sheer eye appeal was great

I always said that the lines and style of a 2003 Dodge Durango that I once owned sure would stand that test of time for being a future classic. A year or two later Dodge changed it into an ugly albatross!
