Wind makes all the difference. I would like to live out my days somewhere the wind never blows. I wouldn't care what the temperature was.

not looking forward to it but just in case 😐️

what rumors I have heard possible worse than the blizzard in 1978 and that was no fun at all ( well a little but thats a different story 😁 )

so today just in case 😲 we stacked hay bales around the chicken shed / coup

put the tire chains and blade on the old 8n tractor

made sure the snow blower was good to go

filled up the gas cans, I try and keep about 35 to 40 gallons at least on hand any way

pulled the generator out of hibernation and made sure it was good to go.

filled up some jugs and buckets of water to have if needed ( of course bottled water we keep around any way )

I would not complain if I did it all as just a practice run 😁 and we miss out on the storm event

The north American model shows the possibility of a low pressure point forming at the intersection of North Carolina South Carolina Georgia and Tennessee If that happens there will likely be a counter clockwise Flow of air off the Atlantic That will produce more snow Going northward Along the face of the cold front going northward. Myself I'm out of the worst of it where I live But it'll still be cold.

Yeah, our forcast for Fri. night keeps dropping. Now calling for -1 to -3°, heavy winds bringing Wind Chill down to -14° to -20 (easily.) High in the low teens for Sat.

I hope we get snow, at least. (The more, the better.)

That's pretty cold for you guys, isn't it? Keep an eye on Buddy's paws on that cold of ground.

Buddy will be fine. I am more concerned about the PVC pipes under my house, that I can not access.

    * Pretty sure it got down to (a record low of) -14° a couple years back.

We are up in the Mtns here, not your typical Southern environment. Quite a few Ski resorts over in Boone, NC. (About 33 mi. away.)

So they never dug out a crawl space? There's no room to get under there?

Not enough to get to where the pipes are. Only thing I can figure is that they framed the floor, stepped through it and plumbed it. Just Stupid, I don't know what they thought they were gonna do with a pipe problem. 🤔

I was (however) told that this house was made (1972) as a Summer getaway in the Mtns for a Family that lived on the Coast. They probably figured they'd just drain the pipes and leave it in the Wintertime.

Ken, when Spring and Summer roll around see if you can get those inaccessible sections dug out and replaced with PEX pipe. Even it freezes it won't crack. You should be fully retired by then and will need a project to stay busy, right? LOL!

Years ago replacing the fuel pump on my 1980 chevy PU. -20 degrees. Did this outside.

Retired now so can stay inside.

Real temps here tomorrow evening predicted to be between 0 and -3. Picked up four bales of straw yesterday from cousin's feed store.

Goats and chickens now have straw bedding in the barn. I have the coop inside the barn. Doghouse is on the deck. It's 4ft x 8ft and large enough to house all five outside dogs. They were treated to a bale of straw as well.

Shiggles and Cookie will be inside sleeping with me. Just a two dog night at this house. 😆

Now at -21. Can't wait to go out to feed in the morning!

Thankfully this is projected to only go for a day or so and then warm up to almost 40 which could make a real mess of things with 15" of fluffy white stuff on the ground.

local news reporting we will be -30 to -35 Friday morning winds possible 30 to 50 mph gusts

2 to 3" of snow is the only good thing if you can call it that ☹️

JMHO I can guess power outages will be common also .

gong to be a three dog night for sure ...

-28 this morning with a 'feels like' temp of -35. Couldn't sleep past 3:30 due to worrying about pipes freezing. Got up and made the rounds and everything is just fine. Wood stove is stoked up and the coffee's hot. Supposed to warm up to a high of -14 today.

The only thing predictable about the weather is that it’s unpredictable. They tend to sensationalize it so much anymore. Bottom line, it’s winter. Six months from now they will be telling us to stay inside out of the heat or we will die.
