How old are you guys???
I think I asked this a few years back???? I will be 60 this September 7th. I'm truly amazed by some of your knowledge of firearms and History, Especially Mr. P.
I use to love sitting on the floor, listening to my Grandfather talk about WWII and all the places he has seen and the things he did on the aircraft carries, he was station on. My Grandfather, Joseph Romano, served on the USS Cabot, CV28 and the USS Yorktown. He served combat duty aboard the Yorktown. He was a machinist mate III class. God I miss his stories and the man. He once fell overboard and was picked up by a destroyer, the USS Rich. The men of the Destroyer, gave him a bamboo framed picture, 3 feet by 18", of the USS rich. I donated it last year to the Naval Museum in Washington DC. It hangs there with his name and my name as a donor, on it. This is my grandfather. In the bottom picture, he is in the lower left. He was also an immigrant from Sicily, in 1930. As soon as he was old enough, he joined the US Navy. Oakie
PS, I also didn't find out until I donated the picture, that my grandfather had many awards. He never talked about this to any of us. The navy sent his award ribbons to my mom this past fall. I got them all framed for her. Someday, they will be mine to cherish forever.

I turned 73 about two weeks ago..........although, in the Summer of '67, I almost didn't make it to 18.

73 in April, feel like I’m going on 21.
As they say, never slow down never grow old.

Yeah 😓, I agree with what's being said. I'm starting to feel my age at 67. When I do certain jobs, my wife is right there, ready to "dial" 9-1-1.

I'll be 84 in May. The way I figure it I'm near old enough that most of you guys could be my kids. I was a tough hombre until I turned seventy, since then I've had a few replacement parts. I realize my limits, I can only walk about twenty minutes in WalMart, but I can still go all day at a gun show. You have to have priorities.

Turned 62 last fall and retired from 41 years of Navy/Civil service the same month. I learned a new word....."Spuddle" which roughly means to look extremely busy without accomplishing anything. Seems to be appropriate for what I have been doing lately.

To a dyslexic, I'm 16.

I got pulled over for speeding on my 75th birthday on the way to my birthday party. The California Highway Patrolman looked at my license, said "Have a Happy Birthday, thank you for your service and SLOW IT DOWN!"

I'll be turning 67 in another few weeks. My oldest son will hit 49 in May. I got an early start on reproduction! 😁
I figure all the time ahead will be time gifted, as all the roads traveled getting here have been pretty rough on my keester!

I'll hit 74 in April

I'm 79. Two years ago I had to give CPR to a young-un, & brought him back. Not sure how much longer my knees will hold up.

My favorite uncle was uncle Joe, he was my mothers youngest brother. Right out of high school he enlisted in the Navy because he wanted to learn radio, radar, etc. He was stationed on the USS Yorktown. On Christmas day, 1941 it was going through the Panama Canal to the Pacific. He was at the Battle of Midway but survived. He never talked about the war much. After the battle he never served on a warship again, he was either fixing up the planes and ships that were shot to hell or he was an electronics instructor.

My pop turned 80 last October, and can still outwork most men in their 30s and 40's. He scares me sometimes, as hard as he works. The man is physically fit and very active. Lived most of his life, since he was 18, with only one eye. Oakie

I thought you guys were all older than me at 68.

Not sure what years my grandfather served on the Yorktown. I know he was not on the first Yorktown, that was sunk on June 7th. When he passed away, there were only two of his shipmates from The USS Cabot, that were still alive. Both attended his funeral, as well as three guys from the Yorktown. He use to go to the reunions they held, in Las Vegas, every year. At his service, one of his shipmates walked over to me and said, You must be Oakie, Your grandfather talked about you all the time, at the reunions. I had to walk away to hide my emotions. I never knew this. I never knew he was proud of me, as he never said that to any of us kids. The only stories he ever told us kids, were the funny stories, not his battles or losing friends.
