Old military weapons to buy???
I really enjoy shooting my M1 Garands and my two Jap 7.7's. Looking for other old military weapons to buy, that has readily available ammo. What say you??? I got a 303 British coming my way, but looking for something else to shoot. I also have two M1 Carbines, but had to give them to my father in Texas, as they are illegal now in NJ
-
I like the Mosin Nagant Carbines. M38's and M44's. ๐

@Oakie I thought you were moving out of New Germany?

Ma Deuce, nuff said!

maybe just me but at th etime I had little money to buy anything
when the big surplus hit maybe 20 + years ago sks 69.00 by the crate and 1500 rounds of 7.62x39 ammo same price
the ย Mosin Nagant were 39.00 give or take same with the ammo cases for about 80.00
I thought at the time wow what a great deal on military rifles, but no cash just had me looking and wishing. so many more during that time looked like no end to the boat loads come in at evert gun show
I cam close to a china m1a they were going for 1/2 or less what a Springfield was selling for
hind sight is always the best
I have not been to a GS in years and have not even looked at prices for as long I hate to say it but getting older
I have lost that desire to keep buying ๐ช I have a few assorted firearms I will pass along to my two sons but with only one grand kid so far thats not helping the desire to buy and pass along
I use to love to shoot but my eyes have got to the point even with glasses it took that joy away also
let us know what you decide on or run across a great deal
will add my youngest son had a FFL that allowed him to have and build FA guns then he sold them all off and not sure if he kept the level of FFL
they were a hoot but OMG feeding them was not so much

Don't know if you have looked at Locust fork's auction but she has several military item up and running.

Take a look at the SKS rifle. Most (except Chinese) are C&R's. Low recoil, ammo should be available for many years.

brown bess??? I would hazard a guess they would be legal

Swedish Mauser.
3 -
I have a few rifles, a Nagant 44, an SKS that I bought from David Nunn, and a couple Mausers.
My addiction is really WWl semi auto military pistols, which I won't disclose actual numbers accumulated, but let's just say I have every model of trench gun, and a bunch of others just because. The Browning designs are my favorites. Ammo is ridiculously priced in comparison to 10 years ago, but what isn't.

If you can find a 1941 Johnson automatic that would be a nice collector, and will most likely hold itโs value over the years. Also collecting 1903s. There are Springfields, Rock Islands arsenal and Remingtons made at the beginning of WW2. And then there are the 1903A3s as well. Word of caution, collecting old military weapons can become addicting.

Yes. It is an addiction.

'03 Springfields, and Reisings M65s.

I have always ascribed to the one of each school of collecting. As I have grown older, I realize one of each may not be enough !

If you are looking for inexpensive- that ship has already sailed.
If you are trying to get out of Jersey, daughter works for the PA-NJ Bridge Authority. Pick the right time of night, she can help you escape.

My neighbors on each side of me, are cops for the bridge authority. Your daughter probably has some mutual friends of mine. My uncle worked with the bridge authority for 38 years.

@Oakie, I was just thinking about this my own self. I then proceeded to view these two vids. I think there are some good suggestions in both:

Gun nut there is a few of those P-17 an P-14 actions that have been cut to sporter shape. As you see in that picture they are filthy. I could not work the bolts. they are soaking in the soup to loosen up. After they are checked an logged in. Then to make sure they are fit I can sell they will go up. They up right racks are all my inventory that i take to the shows. Anything new in boxes belongs to my partner. He run the new items an i run as he call all the boat oars. Those pictures were from the Last Oaks Show In Valley Fordge Pa. Will be back there the End of March. But I take as much as I can each week to shows. This weekend is York Pa.

Random boxes of parts like those are the main reason I even bother with gun shows any more. The thrill of the hunt, I guess you could say.๐
