We used to mix that stuff with ever clear to really give it a kick. When you could only buy one big bottle of wine like a half gallon. The n you bought a pint or fifth of ever clear. Mixed the two together. girls loved it๐Ÿคฃ . Every one got smacked real fast an was enough to go around

I can remember wine and Ever Clear. I can remember the world was spinning, I was spinning. I was on my hands and knees and even the toilet was spinning. I can remember thinking Iโ€™m never going to drink again. Was a lot of fun though back then.

kasey, I very much want to hear your Boone's farm story!!๐Ÿ˜

If I had some play around money, 1 or both of those nickel 44 Specials you have listed would be headed to South Carolina!!

That 2" 34 would be heading this way also.

As usual, you got some great items up for sale.

I had to drive through East St Louis to get to college every day. Even back then, ESL was a really, really bad place. The winos there made a product they called Robin Hood because they stole the makings from the "rich" grocery stores. They would take any kind of fruit or sweet thing like pastries from the dumpster and make a truly rotgut wine out of it. Packaged it in Mason jars.

One morning, I was commuting home from an early class, driving east with the sun in my eyes. Crested an overpass and just in time saw a ragged guy sitting crosslegged on the dividing line, Mason jar in hand. I missed him, fortunately.

Richards Wild Irish Rose should have had " handcuffs are in your future " printed on the label.

I spent some of my adolescence getting to know the taste and effects of drinking homemade wine made by a buddy's farmer dad's stash. Only took a couple of experiences and wine was off of my drinking list forever!

    Oh ---Boone's Farm Strawberry Wine!

Last stop out of town, we bought a case of it. We had a small 7ish piece caravan of VW Campers and Vans, headed to North Idaho Farragut State Park Rock Festival. Caravan never made it up there together, but all did make it. Was a very good 3-4 days fun, lots of eye opening memories.!!

I don't think I ever had the chance to try it, but I still have my own kryptonite. Ouzo. Simply typing out the name makes my toes curl and my kidneys palpitate.

Grape wine in a Mason jar

    Homemade and brought to school

By a friend of mine 'n' after class

Me and him and this other fool decide

That we'll drink up what's left

    Chug-a-lug, so help thyself

    First time for everything

    Mmm, my ears still ring

Ouzo. Is there a difference in flavor between ouzo and kerosene??

Ouzo. Is there a difference in flavor between ouzo and kerosene??

The original recipe for Ouzo goes something like this: An old grizzled Greek fisherman forgot his supply of water one hot summer day. He got thirsty, dropped some expired gas station licorice into the fuel tank, then distilled it through his chest hair, followed by his socks.

Growing up around here, all the gals seemed to like Sloe Gin drinks. I guess you could call it Kool Aid with a kick.

when I was 16 yrs old

I worked at a local grocery store I did not drink until I got about 18 and a new set of "friends."

I had access to all the top shelf wine like boons farm M-D 20/20 wild rose ? and similar also at that time 3.2% beer was all 18 year olds could buy but I could buy any thing in the store ( actually most every 16 to 18 year old could as kids worked at the store and checking ID's was never even mentioned and I know at least one high school gal was well know pretty girl Susie was her name her motto get some booze and well get lucky or no booze your out I even witnessed her telling some poor kid that ( no not me ) at the register one night while running it I just smiled at the scared guy and said your IN ๐Ÿ˜

another friend had a job cleaning up at a local pub after closing amazing every night he would find a bottle or three of the better stuff like Jack D. and all similar

many a night we would head out to the back roads to have fun and drink 1st thing happened the whiskey bottle lid would go out the window reason no lid not allowed to put the bottle down

so many stories about getting drunk and several about passing out , being young was fun and dangerous

goes with how did we make it this far post

but such post drags back so many memories for me

sad to say all those old buddies have passed on ( may they RIP ) I am the last man standing I guess you could say

"Being young was fun and dangerous!" Yup!! And you are so correct this type of behavior goes with the "How did we make it this far??" post.

The terms young and dumb truly are synonomous (sp)!
