Growing up around here, all the gals seemed to like Sloe Gin drinks. I guess you could call it Kool Aid with a kick.

    I remember those gals

My younger brother was the head of his fraternity house. It wasn't really a fraternity, it was just a place for the football players and wrestlers to live, drink and party on campus without having to live in a dorm.

The way this came to be is a long story perhaps for another time.

My brother is driving back to school and he happens to be driving past a Boone's Farm store with a big sale sign out in front of the store so in goes my brother to see what is on sale.

There it is! A case of Boone's Farm Strawberry wine for $2.00! Dean bought every case they had. He filled up his trunk, filled up his back seat, filled up behind both front seats, filled up his passenger seat and the floor on the passenger side. He even tied down some on his roof.

Dean told me the boys welcomed him like a conquering hero!!🀣 FREE BOOZE!!! YEE HAH!!

They carried 30+ cases up to his room leaving a bunch of cases downstairs so the frat boys could start drinking free wine, all you can drink, free wine!! It don't get no better than that if you are a broke college student. That strawberry wine flowed freely for three days and nights until they had to sober up because 2 a days started on day four!!πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

The starting defense and starting offense for the first 3 practices didn't do anything once the sweat started running except barf, barf again and again and then the dry heaves started. The coach was politely put, unhappy.

Spring came and Dean still had 15 cases of Boone's Farm Strawberry wine in his room. All of those frat boys wouldn't drink even if it was free. All that sweet wine gave them a hangover that would not stop. If they even looked at those Boone's Farm wine bottles they would get nauseated. It took Dean all fall and winter to get rid of most of what was left.

When he left school, he left what was left of that Boone's Farm Strawberry wine in his room.

Years later I mentioned Boone's Farm Strawberry wine to him. Dean turned a little green. That sweet strawberry wine had given an entire fraternity the mother of all hangovers!!πŸ˜‚

    That is an AWESOME story!!!!

kasey, I very much want to hear your Boone's farm story!!😁

If I had some play around money, 1 or both of those nickel 44 Specials you have listed would be headed to South Carolina!!

That 2" 34 would be heading this way also.

As usual, you got some great items up for sale.

Ohhh.....it was 1987, I was in the Navy and stationed at Sub Base Pearl Harbor.

I had a Jeep Wrangler that I would go on off road rides with other people that also had 4x4 they wanted to trash.

There is this huge area on the opposite side of the island that was a bird sanctuary, really it was just trails and trails of sandy hills with cravases and such you better avoid. This lady named Bonnie said she had a lot of experience driving her own off road vehicle and wanted to drive mine "so I could have fun".....Boones Farm here I come.

The group I was with got seperated.....Bonnie got the Jeep stuck. I was PLASTERED.....this is when it got WORSE.

Bonnie starts to try to hold my hand. I was super drunk and alone in the dark with this nut....all I could do was start crying and run away. I took off....lost my shoes in the mud and didn't know where anyone was. Eventually, I saw some lights through an overgrown area, so I plowed through that where I found myself standing in the middle of a Boy Scout camp.

I'm covered in mud....scratched up from plowing through the vegitation....I can't stop crying....I couldn't tell you where my Jeep was .....all my friends might as well have been abducted by aliens. I asked to use their phone.....they pointed to a pay phone that was on a telephone pole in the middle of this big tent....filled with little boys sitting on the ground. Guess who I called......my DAD, in Alabama....at 3am his time.....collect (of course.) I told him....."the Jeep is stuck and Bonnie was hitting on me....and I lost my shoes (sobbing uncontrollably and looking down at a sea of little boys looking up at me)" He just started laughing and asked me what did I want him to do about it??? About then I thought about the AAA service I had. Calling them, they said NO WAY....they don't go off road. I finally just gave up and started walking down the road, where I saw one of the other Jeeps that was in our group. They were looking for me everywhere. I'm sure the boy scout leader used me as an example for lots of life lessons.

Sloe gin and ouzo... man, those bring back memories.

The Sloe Gin Fizz was THE drink back when. College girls doted on 'em. With predictable results.

Later, I heard about and then tried ouzo. I found it to be dangerously pleasant. You have to like licorice to enjoy ouzo - and several other Continental drinks. But I do. Never got blasted on it, but it is quite easy to do so.

Look up Sloe berries and you'll learn many things.

One bad memory involving boons farm and sloe gin I had just hooked up with a new girlfriend a few months earlier and her older brother turned 21 and OMG the people and booze and smoking substances were endless.

I was drinking little kings remember them then downed a bottle of sloe gin by my self on top all the other stuff and smoking way too much

I was feeling nothing except the entire word was spinning and I recall just wanting it to stop big time heaving up over some straw bales.

I woke up next morning in the field with straw bales surrounding me some what close to the camp fire

But did I learn no πŸ˜• i had to go all out a few more times passed out in a bar/ nightclub who let us all in 16 18 21 did not matter we all lied many times to get in lol

once with our run around gang one of the gals covered my neck with hickeys I passed out came too a few time with her on top of me in our booth the place was really dark and so much gong on no one cared or noticed.

ya lot of fun going to work while they faded away

but gave it all up 45 years ago i may drink a bottle of beer once a month now

Like some of you memories of days and adventures

    I have to add.

Kasey is trophy winner her adventure is award winning i will bet the boy scouts still talk about that night.

Rocky, I'll admit that I used to love Ouzo, until I made the mistake of getting blasted on it, and it was easy to do so. Oof. Being part Greek, I thought I had an edge. Was I ever wrong.🀣

I recall being introduced to Grappa. Still think they had it confused with lighter fluid or JP-4.

And for all recalling Boones Farm, Annie Greensprings and Thunderbird, I only have 3 words for you-

And LF- you were at the Scout Camp at Konahuali. Not too far from the Pali overlook on the road to Kaneohe.

The scouts still talk about that.

I was traveling around Europe, and I went to Greece. Everybody at the outdoor restaurant there on that Greek island was drinking Ouzo. I never heard of it, but I figured "When in Rome do as the Romans do..."

I ordered an Ouzo, had one sip and had to head to the bushes to spit it out. Nasty! Can't stand licorice.

To me ouzo was basically licorice syrup. Barely tolerable for me. There was a Greek girl who brought some back from Greece. It was in an unlabeled stone ware bottle. I was told years later that the original legitimate homemade Greek ouzo usually had a dash of opium added. I could barely manage a tiny sip so I would never have found out.

used to hit the bargain table at the ABC store, almost allways could find some type of fruit flavored vodka or snops for just a few bucks a bottle. Worst time was I got 2 bottles orange snops and bottle of peppermint snops for dollar a bottle. we were haveing a pick up football game that day and it was a bit chilly so they all got dumped into the same big thermas and hauled off to the game. turned out a bunch of the local high school band kids were there and after a lot of mouthing back and forth they went and got friends and we did the same. before the game was over the thermas was empty and the band team ended up with one broken leg and a broken arm and a broken wrist. Needles to say that ended our weekend pickup games on the school field. I doubt any of us felt a thing till the next day when the hangover and the accumulated bumps and bruises kicked in............

As a teen our favorite party concoction was. Buy a garbage can, a bunch of oranges, several cans of Hawaiian punch, a few bags of ice and a few bottles of Ever Clear 151.

Cut up the oranges and put it all in the garbage can and boom JUNGLE JUICE for the whole crowd....

We called it "pj" and made it in the bathtub or a garbage can. Fruit, fruit and more fruit and all manners of " white whiskey" . Lethal stuff, made lots of clothes fall off!

    Gin and ade.

Gallon of the cheapest gin, 3 gallons of cheap lemonade and a couple bags of ice in a 5 gallon igloo water cooler.

    Less than $10 in β€˜87.

Boone's Farm was a staple of our Forest Preserve Bonfire Parties back in my early 20's.

    Mad Dog 20/20

I wasn't there for it but a gal in our group of drinkers got a new apartment with white carpeting. One of the guys in the gang loved MD 20/20 and bought a bottle for this get together at this gal's apartment. Another friend Andy, bought 2 more bottles of MD 20/20 without telling the 1st guy.

The story goes that they started playing pass the bottle, whereupon Andy, pretending to take a swig, introduced the 2nd and 3rd bottle. Well we all were banned from visiting this gal's apartment after this party as the 1st guy projectile vomited "Purple Drank" all over that white carpeting!!!
