Somewhere along that time I bought a 1973 Lincoln Mk IV for $600. It got about 10 mpg but it got it in STYLE!

Maybe around 1985 I bought the same from a women bartender in the local VFW. Same on gas ,great ride.

VW bug. Now (and for sometime) deceased.

1976 Ford E-150 van. I built up the interior for camping. We camped all over the northeast US and as far away as Canada. I still miss that van.

I turned 14 in 1979 so I didn't have a license. I did drive these a lot. (Not these exact tractors or truck but same models.)

"VW bug. Now (and for sometime) deceased."

The VW Bug and the VW van had the same engine in 1971, 1600 cc air cooled. The bug was a little car and somewhat aerodynamically shaped, designed by Herr Porsche in 1935 under orders of Hitler. My brother bought one new, and put 120,000 miles on it before the engine blew.

However, the VW van had the same engine. The van had all the aerodynamics of a concrete block, and was quite big, you could put lots of cargo, or people in the van. It was too much strain on the engine. Even with constant maintenance you weren't going to get 30,000 miles on the van before the engine blew.

There were a bunch of those, especially that color. 345 V8, 2 barrel Holley carb 4+2 transmission (well 4speed transmission, 2 speed rear end.) Our's had a fold-up cattle rack. I hauled a lot of cattle and hogs with that thing. It kept Dad going during the farm crisis of the 80's.

My '68 van got an engine rebuild in the living room of a friend. We did his and mine at the same time. Mechanical advance distributor, 2 barrel Holly Bug Spray carb, over sized oil pan, oil filter, second oil cooler, extractor exhaust. It would cruise at 75 (not legal at the time) and sounded like a Porche. A

76 Electra 225 - no where near that clean. It was a retired fleet car my Dad picked up. Super-smogger 455 ci motor - slowest big-block on the planet.

How did anyone ever find him?

If you were driving an Electra 225 today you would not have to fear a crash with another car of today. In fact you might just think you ran over an empty beer can on the road.
I almost forgot. Besides having a 1974 Monte Carlo, I also had a HD Sportster. Does that count as well?

My best drive in car not counting a van or truck with a cap on it lol

Was a 71 Mach 1 mustang rear seat folded down and had a panel that laid flat into the trunk so from the rear of the front seat to the tail panel is was all open space

But Honestly what we managed to do in any car with even just bucket seats

My body hurts just thinking of all the flexing and bending like that any more

Being young was wonderful in so many ways and we grew up in a wonderful never To be again time

    Just fading memories now

Even after a bit more than 50 years of marriage, my other half would skin me alive if I even considered contact with an old girl friend! 😁

I must give kudo's to your understanding Mrs. D\R!
