Your 'tastes' are well above typical. 'Not Oscar Mayer' 8 pack dogs are currently in the $1.25-1.50 range which is up from last year's 99 cent price tag.

Must be a commie California inflated price. I just checked the Kroger price here and a 10 pack is just over 3 bucks. Now the big important question is - why do they come in 10 packs and hot dog buns come in 8 packs? Bob

Sorry, but, Oscar Mayer hot dogs are really nothing but a cheap bologna in a hot dog shape, REAL hot dogs are Nathan's, Hebrew National, and Sabretts , any of these with natural or no casings are the better choice, and each have a different flavor profile , actual flavor… unlike the O C's which basically have zero taste.😁

@austin20 Yes to Hebrew National. Good taste and no lips or "other parts." On sale they're $4.60 for a 6 pack here and have been sold out in Kroger & Food Lion.

IF you can eat Bar S you could eat anything. Nathans are terrible for me to eat and don't. Oscar bun length is for me. ymmv.

Always been more of a bratwurst man myself. Maybe not the most healthy to eat but are dam tasty with baked beans and potato salad. Now that I think about it, that maybe what’s put on the grill for supper tonight.

Carolina Bright leaf red hot dogs here. Regional brand but it's what I was raised on . Runs $5.00 a lb

    I usually buy Nathan's; $4.47 8-pack.

I am not a big fan of mass produced Hot Dogs.

Hebrew National are OK, but we have a local butcher who makes dogs and sausages in-house that are terrific.

They cost close to $ 2.00 a dog or sausage, but when you eat them only a few times a year it is well worth it.

Oscar bun length all beef or Hillshire Farms Hot link are my go to. Bar-S is cheapest products around here, I've tried most major brands but always go back to OM. Best when grilled to almost burnt…

Do you really live longer if you avoid processed meat? Or are you just so unhappy that time drags?

Nathan’s all the way. $1.53 hot dog combo keeps me happy at Sam’s while my girls shop. Now…. If they’d just implement some man strollers, I’d be all set. 😁

    Old jingles:

Oh, I wish I was an Oscar Mayer weiner, that is what I'd really like to be. For if I was an Oscar Mayer weiner, everyone would be in love with me.

My hot dog has a first name, it's O-S-C-A-R. My hot dog has a last name, it's M-A-Y-E-R. I love to eat them every day, and if you ask me why I'll say- 'Cuz Oscar Mayer has a way with B-O-L-O-G-N-A.

Ruger4me - Them Hillshire kielbasa's lost weight on biden-flation diet. I think they're 14 ounces? Or was it 12 ounces? Either case they're still more costly than when they weighed a pound.

austin20 - Don't give the Hattians any ideas.

Sadly, the 4th generation Polish Butcher Shop near me permanently closed a couple years ago. Owner retired and had no heirs interested to keep it going.

The place made the best darn hot dogs and ring bologna I've ever eaten! I would buy several pounds of hot dogs and would eat a few raw on the way home from the place. IMHO, the best way to discover a good hot dog is to eat one raw. If it tastes good that way, it will be even better when cooked!

I had hopes when those "hipsters" and the slow food movers came around but they're doing their own thing and not putting in the time to keep foods of the past around. Too busy making 'smore's stout. Better eat what you can while you can still get it.

Back in the '90s I lost a Polish/German deli that used to have dried sausages. Didn't know what I had until they closed up shop. Basically a beef and black pepper sausage the size of what a brat would look like if they got forgotten on the grill from the last cookout. Didn't buy much else but I did buy a good bit of that. Wish I learnt it's name so I could have looked on line when online shopping became a thing.
