Venison!
Coming back from town this Morning I picked up a fresh roadkill. I got 32 pounds of nice boneless meat from it. Ma fried up some tonight and it was great. Ennybuddy else do this?

Hi, Eddy!
Sure! That's a cheap way to get some venison. But they have to be still bleeding or, better yet, almost dead. I drove a semi for 45 years- 1975 through 2022- and l hit 38 deer. I never heard of anybody else who hit more than 10. But l seldom was able to eat one that l hit; they were destroyed or l didn't have the time. I hauled grain here in lowa and harvest time was when l was busiest and that's also when l hit the most deer. The Sheriff was a neighbor so when l saw a fresh hit close to home l would call him and a deputy would run me out a salvage tag. I got maybe a dozen that way. I imagine you have seen more than a few fresh hits while you were hauling sticks!
Adios, buddy!

I swore by those deer alert whistles! A lot of guys thought they didn't work, but approaching a deer feeding by the highway at night they would look towards me and simply walk off into the brush. But, you had to keep them clean. The little whistle hole would plug up with a bug and didn't work. I had them for 16 years and only hit 2 deer and they were running heck bent for fire across the road in front of me. I also had them installed on our personal vehicles and never hit one, but we seldom drove at night. BTW, good to see you are still active here. Congratulations on your 45 years, keep the bugs off yer glass and the bears off yer….bumper!
