Gunsmith and 788 trigger
Purchased a Remington 788 off GB. a couple of months later it developed problems with the trigger. It would fire when safety was moved from safe to fire. No fault of the seller, it just happened. Took it to a gunsmith to have a new Timney installed. About $175 for the Timney trigger. Timney listed it as a drop in so gunsmith said $45 to install. I told him I had read that some stock material may need to be removed to get the safety to work. He then said $125 to install and gave me a written quote. When I picked the 788 up he wanted $217 for the install. He said he had to work more on the stock trying to get the trigger to fit than he thought he would. He never called to discuss this with me. I ask if he checked if the safety was working properly and he said “No need to, it is new”. I paid him his $125 when I showed him his written quote. The safety did not fully engage and I had to sand some on the stock to get it working. I will no longer do any business with this man. Opinion, thoughts?

All the 788's I have seen fire going from safe to fire if you have pressure on the trigger.
