Hey Eddie.....
Saw my first ever 4 axle log trailer today. A fair share of these log trucks are grossing 105,500 these days around here.

I have never seen one. I have noticed more 4 axle trucks passing through town with sleepers on them. Really nice chromed up units, almost too nice to take into the woods. When I first started back in ‘72 Kimberly Clark was using single drive fifth wheel trucks pulling a single axle trailer with the bunk centered on it. This in turn was hooked to a conventional two axle logging dolly. These units were preloaded and hauled to a staging area where the highway trucks would trade trailers and haul the loaded ones to the mill. The drivers hated them, being single drive they didn't do well in inclement weather They were nicnamed dinosaurs!!!! Have you ever seen one of them? A friend later bought one but pulled it with a tandem drive truck. He drove the local commercial CHP insane as he often grossed out 4-5 thousand over weight but being weighed on jump scales he was legal on all 6 axles and by Ca. law the cop couldn't cite him by adding up the total. BTW, this cop hated loggers and did everything in his power to make our lives miserable. Are you retired yet? Still working? Julie and I are well. Stay safe my friend. .

I have never seen a setup like you're talking about, but my logging experience/ knowledge is limited to what goes on in Washington/Idaho/Montana.
No I'm not technically retired yet. I do mechanic work with some welding/fabrication thrown in. I work out of a 50x100 shop that is 1.8 miles from home. I work on heavy equipment and trucks as well as pickups and cars. Even throw a few lawn mowers in this time of year. Right now I have a Ford 6610 tractor split in two and am putting a clutch in it. Glad to hear you folks are doing well. Keep yer powder dry ol buddy……
