I just found out today that one of my very best friends has agreed to enter a senior care facility. One of the strongest, most honest and friendliest men I have ever known is using a walker, wearing depends and cannot drive ennymore. In the ‘ol days he could shift a pair of boxes (two transmissions linked together) using both hands and never grind a gear while grossing 80,000 pounds of logs. We have been taking him to the eye doctor in Reno, Nv. once a month to get eye injections for the past 4 months. “Don’t forget to stop at Bordertown Ed, I'm buying lunch for you and Julie”. Dammit, just dammit…. .

I never drove a twin stick but I drove an air shift 4X4. I guess it was OK; kinda hard to remember since it was 50 years ago.

I was going to die young and leave a good looking corpse, but the last part was never possible. So the same is coming for many of us.

IF it weren't for one of my sons and his family, I'd be in a nursing home right now. It has been a totally new beginning for me, away from my wife and home which are some 200 miles away.

I went with him today to see about the release forms to move into Assisted living. Doc said it would be over an hour to fill out all the forms and he could not see him until the 17th. Meanwhile he is living alone with his dog until then. Julie has a bed made up for him if things get more complicated. Brookwood, you are extremely fortunate to have a son who cares. And Drifter, it is always great to hear from you, Stay safe my friend
