Ruger 22 LR, Automatic Pistol
This pistol came to me with the slide stuck. Hoping to learn what model and if anyone is more familiar with the model and the issues this one is presenting. Made in Southport, CT and S/N is D323960
Thank you

A Standard 22 with the 9 round magazine. Soak it in solvent as it looks to be rusted shut. I don't think the first part of the serial number is a “D” as that don't compute. Fine little pistols and get her unstuck and clean and you will have a good shooter.

You have a Mark II Standard pistol, made from 1982 till 2004, and serial numbers started at 18-00001. The Mark III had a magazine release button on the left side by the trigger guard, yours has the toggle release on the bottom. The Mark I has serial numbers in the 5 digit range. Do not attempt to release the takedown lever on the back handle, they are impossible to reassemble and needs a gunsmith to do this…I have read horror stories of gunsmiths getting the gun in parts in a brown paper bag, asking to have it reassembled. Well the best advice is to put a wood rod down the barrel and tap the slide back, as long as no cartridge is in the chamber. There is no impediment whether the safety is on or off to pulling the slide back. good luck to you.

That is a Mark 1 standard as that is the early 9 shot magazine. You can tell by the chrome on the bottom.
I don’t suggest putting anything down the barrel and tapping it if there is a round in the chamber. Soak it and free the slide up to be safe. I stand on my comment.0 -
“Well the best advice is to put a wood rod down the barrel and tap the slide back, AS LONG AS NO CARTRIDGE IS IN THE CHAMBER” The Mark I had a 5 digit serial number as they only made 35,000 units, so this one is definitely a Mark II in the 6 digit range. You don't need to soak it, just use a penetrating oil on the slide. If there is a cartridge chambered you can use a wood dowel and tap on the ears of the back of the slide. good luck

Grasshopper - you can see in the first photo it is D323960
thorhammer - this is not my pistol and when I received it the magazine was in place. I am assuming there is a round in the chamber.

The pistol does not have the slants out the back of the slide so it is a Standard MARK I, that carries a 9 round mag. Mark II's did not come out until 1982. 100% this is the old model Standard. Soak it because the firing pin might be stuck also and if you start pounding something down the barrel bad things can happen.
