Greg Ritz the CEO says they are better.

He has 80 employees and 40 are old school T/C.

He owns T/C since sometime in 2024 and has cut ties with S&W. Hope T/C honors their lifetime warranty that S&W cancelled.

I also seen a small article in Game and Fish (south)Nov issue article WHITETAIL WONDERLAND, UP FROM THE ASHES (T/C) Greg indicated they have re-designed the encore PROHUNTER  rifle to more precise CNC tolerances, doing all on one machine and changed the rifling to 5R and they are completely different more precise accuracy and operation wise. (appears he knew T/C had a problem with the old style encores. He also indicated they might bring back the Black Powder rifles and the Hawken.

I never was a Encore fan and have seen some with really bad erratic accuracy issues.

I've seen some of them Encore Prohunter stainless centerfire rifles that are in the category of “Being married to a really pretty woman that has a headache all time, all they are good for is to look at”

I do own several TC Hawken rifles that I have converted to 209 ignition, scoped, very good consistent accuracy out to 125 yards with sabots and are one of my favorite for whitetail hunting. I use the Mag Spark ignition system and Winchester triple 7 209 primers.

T/C honored a lifetime warranty on the Hawken rifles which I used few times. They would send upgrades free of charge if you had a registered warranty and really good Customer Service Dept. That all went SOUTH when S&W took over and CS also went way south.

I have, and the new models look good from what I've seen, but I never had a bit of trouble with the older versions, either, other than never having enough barrels.

Good to know.  I wouldn't mind getting the pistol version in .308.

The .308 pistol is a LOT of fun. If you can handle a .44 mag in a revolver, you shouldn't have any issues with the .308 in an Encore pistol.

I don't shoot the.44 as much as I used to but I always enjoyed the cartridge, especially in a Ruger Blackhawk.  I'm thinking about .308 in an Encore because I might have some reloading time coming up.

For what it is worth, I bought an SSK Encore action.  High quality, SS, not cheap, but neither are used actions.  Sold through an on-line and on Gunbroker dealer.

I've been watching several TC auctions on GB but haven't jumped in on anything yet.  I might have to wait until the new production is more available.

Two buddies of mine are having a couple Encore barrels made by Match Grade Machine. One is chambered in 6 Dasher, the other in, if I remember right, .444 Marlin. Sounds like a couple months lead time for them to be finished. The 6 Dasher is going to run around $700 for all the options he wants like a 26" length, fluting, and having the muzzle threaded. The guy having the .444 barrel done also wanted a barrel chambered in .270 WSM, but apparently they don't chamber barrels in any of the big beltless cases like the WSMs or Remington Ultra Mags.

.444 would be a fun caliber to play with.

I think so too. He already has the 15" pistol barrel, and I bet it's pretty lively from a rest!
