New to semi-auto's and having issues with releasing the slide after I pull it back. Videos seem to show pulling it back further.

  If no loaded magazine is inserted into the receiver, then it will automatically engage the slide lock. If you have a loaded mag in the gun and the problem persists, you need to pull the slide back further.
