Pair of Herters 401 Powermags
A widow friend of mine has a pair of Herters 401 powermags consecutive serial numbers unfired in their original box with paperwork and is wanting to sell them and I am looking for a value on them. Any info is always appreciated. Terrill.

There is a Herter's 401 Powermag currently on a 9 day auction at $314.00. I suspect it will do well and hit at least $450. You may follow the auction by typing 1089237128 into the search box at the top of the page. They are made by J.P. Sauer in West Germany in the 1960's, there is a date stamp on the barrel just above serial number, if it shows 66 than it was made in 1966. There is not a lot of value information out there and some estimates from 2 years ago show values around $350, but the revolver is gaining collector status. The main draw back of the 401 Powermag is ammo availability, you have to reform brass from .41 mag cases and collectors have that all figured out. I will go out on a limb here and say with the original boxes in mint condition would retail for $1000.00. Or you can wait 9 days and see what this one on auction brings and double it as it looks unfired also.
