    Thank you, Allen.

Very few Americans know anything at all about the Eastern Front, with maybe the exception of Kursk.

I am just beginning to do some studying about it.

Them Rooshians were a very tough and hardy bunch.

I for one, am glad we haven't had to go head-to-head with them.

Russian sniper Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko. 309 confirmed kills, 36 of them German snipers. Most made with a 91/30 Mosin and a 4x PE scope. That's an SVT-40 she has in the pic.

Bernard Law Montgomery had two rules of warfare.

Rule One is don't march on Moscow.

I've recently read about some of the action around Kiev in WWII, with stories of mass graves of casualties and how only some of the troops were armed with "carbines", and how the unarmed troops would go into battle hoping to pick up a weapon dropped by one of the first line killed in action. Some emplacements still stand, and kids go spelunking and come up with rusted PPShs and the like. To this day you can be walking through the woods and trip over a Nazi helmet with a skull still in it. When people find remains they just toss a handful of dirt over them to symbolically put them at peace and go on their way. Same planet, different world.

The numbers. I don't believe it and knowing how Russian propaganda machine works 95% chance it's highly exaggerated. There's also no way to know the truth.

Pardon me BUT, in this last picture she has not one hair out of place,
no dirt dirt on face or hands. Looks like a posed picture for a propanganda machine. Reminds me of maybe we should have put Betty Grable in a pic like that for propaganda. Russian combat figures never were any near the truth.
