Have a look here and you'll see.
Some of the new guys around here may not have ever had the opportunity to read the posts made by the infamous Gecko45, the original Mall Ninja.

Obviously no armed citizens were available at the time. Isn't Omaha trying to sidestep the state CCW law? Too bad people got hurt because politicians are having a turf battle. 0 -

Just an education. Don0 -
Every time I read about Gecko45 I just burst out laughing. but it is a sad event that happened today. To bad an armed citizen was not present to take the gunman down. 0 -
i was at class this evening and when we went on break i walked pass the tv and they had a picture of the aledged shooter. I KNEW HIM, he was one of the foster kids that my mother in law had. he left awhile back when he aged out. i never did care for the kid. 0 -
We heard about it up here in Canada. I was wondering about CCW my self.
God be with the Victums and their families tonight.0 -
A very sad day for Omaha. Our prayers go out to the families that lost loved ones and those injured. 0 -

It is sad for Omaha...we have an AF base there and we dont know yet if any of the fatalities are family members of AF personnel.
It appears that the mall managment had posted that they did not allow a CCW holder to carry on their premesis. It amazes me still to this day that businesses will prevent law abiding citizens from carrying legally on their property and still think that the sign will stop the bad guys from coming in with a gun.0 -
I would be hoping he didn't have an(apparently worthless)pistol license himself. 0 -
I just read in the Omaha World-Herald that the jerkweed's landlord says he showed her an SKS the night before. 0 -
...and that she thought he was going hunting with her sons, like he often does. 0 -
I'm hearing some confirmed reports that it was a SKS on CNN. 0 -
From FOXNEWS
OMAHA, Neb. - A man opened fire with a rifle at a busy department store Wednesday, killing eight people in an attack that made holiday shoppers run screaming through a mall and barricade themselves in dressing rooms.
The young shooter, who left a note predicting, "I'm going out in style" and "I'm going to be famous," wounded five others, two critically, then took his own life.
Witnesses said the gunman sprayed fired down on shoppers from a third-floor balcony of the Von Maur store using what police said was an SKS assault rifle they found at the scene.
"My knees rocked. I didn't know what to do, so I just ran with everybody else," said Kevin Kleine, 29, who was shopping with her 4-year-old daughter at the Westroads Mall, in a prosperous neighborhood on the city's west side. She said she hid in a dressing room with four other shoppers and an employee.
Police found the first victim on the second floor, then several more near a customer service station on the third floor.
The shooter, identified by police as 19-year-old Robert A. Hawkins, was found dead on the third floor with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Gunman Opens Fire at Omaha Mall Omaha Police Chief Thomas Warren said the shooting appeared to be random. He would not release the victims' identities and gave no motive for the attack.
Hawkins was kicked out by his family about a year ago and moved in with a friend's family in a house in a middle-class neighborhood in Bellevue, a suburb wedged between Offutt Air Force Base and the Missouri River, said Debora Maruca-Kovac, who along with her husband took in Hawkins, a friend of her sons.
"When he first came in the house, he was introverted, a troubled young man who was like a lost pound puppy that nobody wanted," Maruca-Kovac told The Associated Press.
Maruca-Kovac said Hawkins was fired from his job at a McDonald's this week and had recently broken up with a girlfriend. She said he phoned her about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, telling her that he had left a note for her in his bedroom. She tried to get him to explain.
"He said, 'It's too late,"' and hung up, she said.
She told the AP she called Hawkins' mother, went to the Maruca-Kovacs' house and retrieved the suicide note, in which Hawkins wrote that he was "sorry for everything," would not be a burden on his family anymore and, most ominously, "Now I'll be famous."
This shooting appears to be custom tailored for the gungrabbers. Seems this kid was determined to take as many people with him as possible. If he did not have access to a gun he would have probably smashed his car into a crowded bus stop. His suicide note shows his intent to get as much attention as possible.0 -
Thanks sav99 for the link. That's pretty danged entertaining. And I certainly agree with the others who have said in response to "have I missed something.....?" just an education, etc. I have learned, laughed, even shed a tear or two from the majority of posts on this site. You've got a few weirdos here too but the vast majority are pretty good folks with some great ideas and advice.
thanks for tolerating newbies and those of us just learning and joining the rest of the armed citizenry.0
