Nicknames

I life, I've noticed that nicknames don't carry over from one place to the next. Nicknames in school don't carry from one school to the next or to the job. Old ones are discarded and new ones are created no matter how good the old one was.

What are your nicknames that people call you, past and present?

    I've been called OPIE since i was 14, it later morphed into odawgp for a few yrs while playing high school sports. My wife even refers to me as OPIE most of the time. she only uses my real name when i'm in trouble[V]

    My nickname has been "Spike" since I was in the Army, and it's followed me everywhere.

    Other ones I've had include "Sir", "Mr. Wilson" "Boomer" and a few that the auto-censor won't print.

    From my Navy flying days my nickname was "Buck". That nickname followed me until I left the Navy. I'm no longer referred to as Buck, unless I'm talking to one of my old Navy buddies.

    My older brother used to call me "Chip", because I had big, chubby cheeks and an over-bite, and it reminded him of a chipmunk. I hated him....
    In high school, I was called "Ski", like many people of Polish decent whose last names were too difficult for the general population to fugure out how to pronounce correctly.

    In college, my nickname was "Twig," cus that's about how I was built then.

    When I began jr high all of gym clothes had to be stenciled with our last names and the instructors took a look at my last name, shook their heads, laughed and just stenciled a capital "K" onto everything. This stuck with me and soon everyone began calling me K.

    ..In high school, my last name was twisted into the nicknames weener or weeny. Another was "Freak". A lot of people call me "Wilbur" my late dad's name. At work, for the last 10-12 years, I was "Sir". Not because I deserved it, I was just so much older than the rest of the crew. I think "Wilbur" will stick with me forever. I'm OK with that.

    Was rised by my Asian grandmother who called me 'Hung Low.' Still don't know what that meant.[}:)]

    Actually it was Duff. My sister, God rest her soul, could not pronounce Jeff.

    ...the only nickname I was ever called....and I was in the 10th grade, and in the locker room after football practice a guy called me Dick(nick for Richard), but he only did it once...[;)]

    GI Joe. Name's Joe, Last name starts with the letters "GI". At work, (FAA air traffic controller)..coordinating clearances (to block airspace) for civ/mil arrivals and departures, we all had to sign off with our operating initials. Hence, "GI". And I used to own a Corvette. Best, Joe

    Mine was "Maddog".

    It is still used occasionally by old friends.

    It came with my initials which are MD-I was also called "doc" for a short time.

    My full initials are "MGD"-some people get a kick out of that.
