Propane $3.79 a Gallon
I got a fat bill for propane. I have a tank that is filled about every 4 months used for hot water and the kitchen stove. Man, I would hate to have a propane furnace! Luckily, I heat mostly with a wood stove. Anyone else getting hammered with high heating costs? [B)]

HT, I have an 1100 sq. ft. house. If I am lucky, my bill will average $300 a month for the duration of winter. But I fear it will be more. Public Service (Xcel) gets the blessing from the Colorado Public Utilities Commission to go ahead rape us (double the rate) every year now for the last 5 or 6 years in a row. Which is it picken, 5,6? Anyway, we're told it's because of a "shortage" but apparently they burn all the extra cash we send them to make up for the "shortage" or there is some magic relationship between having more money and the "shortage" disappearing, not sure which cause either way there's always a steady flow of the stuff through my meter. Maybe I'm just one of the lucky one's who's meter just doesn't get shut off to account for the ...."shortage"??? If that is the case I'd like to say thanks to all those who go without due to the "shortage" so that I can have it. Who knows, maybe one of these years they'll have a..."longage"??... and you'll get to have some too....at double the rate.[;)] 0 -
With a prepay I locked in my
price at $1.79 for 2 years.0 -
I just received the last of what I prepaid Friday, $1.69. The first propane I bought was in 1968, .11 cents a gallon. The bill was just over $30.00 and I wasn't sure how I was going to pay for it. 0 -
I have the big 500 gallon tank, and I use the wood stove a lot.
As a matter of fact I am running the wood stove right now, turned the propane heater off yesterday.
I only need to fill up the propane tank once a year.
I do that in the summer when it is cheapest.
I got it filled in June for $2.19/gallon.
How the gas company can, every year, institute a $1/gallon price hike in the winter, and not be arrested for price gouging, is a mystery to me.0 -
$1.99 at Flying J truck stop. Kind of hard to haul a 500 gallon tank down there but well worth it for me to drive our MH if its under 1/3. For me the Flying J is 8 miles down the road. 0 -
The only shortage is the shortage of profit. They burn off as much at the well as they process and sell. 0 -
...Got 300 gal on Friday, for $2.08. The driver said that the last guy paid over $3. I'm not on a "plan", but last year, I complained all the way up the chain of command. Guess they don't want me to switch suppliers. 0 -

I got my winter fill mid Nov. paid 2.40 gal and I thought I got stiffed. I burn corn paid 1.60 a bu. hopefully got enough to last the winter got 150 bushels, between the two thats my heating bill including hot water which bugs me the most, there is a lot of waste with the hot water tank keeping hot 24/7 when I bath and shower maybe 1hr in 24. 0
