    Riggers Knife,, thats a marlin spike , cant read the 1st marking,,

    +1 on the rigger's knife. Maybe Navy or Merchant Marine?
    I've seen that manufacturer's mark somewhere before. Think it is "TIGER".

    Rigger's Knife
    Believed by us to be a Case knife, it is pictured on page 235 of the 13th edition "Official Collector's Knives", however it does not have the "Case" signature, nor does the riggers knife pictured. It does have the designation on a blade "SSP" which is "Case" talk for "Stainless Steel Blades and Spring".The knife is 4-3/8 including the end bolster loop. It has a sheep foot blade, a can opener and an awl or punch. The can opener has the "SSP" identifier and an up pointing arrow, along with the date "1942". The sheep foot has nicks on the cutting edge.The rough black handle is called "Plastag" by Case and was used from 1940 until the end of World War II.This was a working knife and was bought from the estate of a sailor who was in the Navy during the Second World War.Here is a desirable historic knife for your personal collection, or an valued gift to a friend who enjoys knives and their varied uses.

    If indeed it were a CASE, and MINT, then it would bring the 100 dollar price..

    The only thing I know for sure is the knife is a Rigger's knife. However, the commercially available Case Rigger's knife is a 6246R (The leading 6 denotes bone handle, the 2 denotes two blades, 46 is the pattern number, and the R denotes there is a bail in the handle). Unless Case made this one for sale through another source, I don't believe it is a Case.

    Case made knives under contract to the gubment, and other knife makers.. just as Schrade made most of the old pushbutton knives for remington and case and anyone else that wanted to market them.

    Yep, Sailor's Knife - marlinspike for splicing rope, shackle wrench for tightening or losening shackles, and a straight blade for cutting serving or rope.

    I was issued one on my first day at the Merchant Marine Academy, in 1971, long long ago, and far, far away.

    dont know if anyone is still subscribing to this topic, but those knives were standard issue to all australian soldiers in ww2...most likely worth about $30 u.s. ...if it has a broad arrow on it it is genuine...that means it was issued by the australian government
