Call me irresponsible and extravagant but have your friend send it to me and I'll forward him/her $3.00 American sight unseen. Even if it's a replica--Okay, I'll go $7.00 American if it turns out to be authentic. What the heck? I got money to burn.

After 137 years in a river, I seriously doubt it would be very legible if it was authentic. Take some closeup pics and post them here and we'll see what your friend has got. Besides that, Wyatt Earp wasn't a Marshal in 1870, much less a US Marshal. He didn't even become a Town Marshal in Tombstone until 1881 and a Deputy US Marshal in 1882..

I'd be somewhat skeptical about its authenticity, even without seeing it. Wyatt Earp didn't become a U.S. Marshal until about 1882. He was a town constable in 1870.

I was just wondering the value. I told him it might be childs badge, but the childs one has wyatt earp on front. This one has his name inscribed on back. Like maybe it was a gift to him.It has five points on star.

    Does it look like this:

Wyatt Earp U.S. Marshal Badge - This is the type of badge worn by the infamous Earp brothers, Wyatt and Virgil. It is also the same type of badge worn by James Arness as Matt Dillon in the "Gunsmoke" television series.

You can buy replicas for $12.99.[:D]

By the way they describe it. I have already seen this sight with the replicas. Cant find anything on originals.
