Is about two months away. Anyone planning to be there? A few of us get together at the show and have dinner after to brag about the great deals we got, the ones that got a way and to hang with some truly great guys. We like meeting new folks too, so if you are going please join us. 0 -
I am thinking about making the trip from Florida to Tulsa for Wanenmacher's Tulsa Arms Show in October. Is this show as big as it sounds? I lived in Houston and we had some really nice gun shows there. I have lived in FL for three years and the shows here are OK, but not exceptional. My B-Day is in October so I thought about buying a cheap airline ticket and making a trip over there.
What do you guys think?

I've been 3 times. I stay in a cheap motel about 10 miles east just to get a room. The best show I've ever seen. Nice people, huge floors.
Do not go to find a deal on a new handgun or any AR's or modern firearms.
It is a collector's show. If you are looking for an old Winchester or Remington- that's the ticket. Not much junk or candy or jewelry.
Lots of knives and old guns you've never seen 'cept in a magazine.
You'll like it, but unless you jog, you will never see it all in one day.
Note: Bring cash. It's not really a credit card of check show.
Food isn't cheap, but there are a lot of places to eat in the area.
Post up and meet up with some friends here, I will probably be there too with a buddy.

There simply is nothing to compare it to. Your average, run of the mill show is sorta like the kids lemonaide stand versus a 5-star.
That being said..as stated, while there will be modern guns there, there is far more old pieces and antiques..endless tables of them.
Two days..and you CANNOT see it all and do it justice. Just wander along and enjoy the experience of a lifetime..and perhaps there will not be many more of them to see....
I smell democraps in the future..and they will shut them down, if they can.0 -
Great show, last time I went I picked up a H&K USP 45 for $435! And traded a CZ .380 for a 44 mag Draggoon with a scope. Thinking back on it, that was interesting trade. Oh well, the lady sure liked the little CZ.
You wont be dispointed. I plan on going as well, depending on the job factor as usuall.
What I remember of the show, Alot of Civil War, WW1 and 2 stuff. There are the usuall Military trinket stuff, belt buckles, knives, old buttons etc.
And, plan for two days, you wont see it all in one!!!0 -
I have a model 1891 Argentine Mauser and would like to find an enginers carbine to match. Sounds like the place I could find one.
I guess if you purchase something there you have to have an FFL ship it back to your home state?0 -

As I recall it's 11 arces. If you walk it all, one trip thru is equivilent to walking approx 7 miles.
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES! Because believe me, your dogs will be barking.
Also advisible to bring a notepad and pencil to take notes on locations of items you want to check back on. You think they'll be easy to find. Ha! Not so!
Can't guarantee what will be there, but the poster that said you'll see nearly everything military including rare museum pieces was correct. Museums actually attend the show to buy exhibit pieces! I live in the area and plan to be there. Hope to meet ya.0 -

Typically, yes..there will be several dealers there complete with such kits.
However...I have not kept up with current laws..don't expect to find a mother lode of banned or illegal weapons. Don't happen.0 -
I know of one dealer that normally goes that does BG's there at the show. Also, alot of no ffl deals goes on as well, such as my USP deal. No check. just paid cash and went on bout my biddness.. But then again that was a couple of years ago. Things change daily it seems in the politics of gun dancing..lol 0 -
As others have mentioned, it is largely a collector's show. If you are looking for a special piece to round out a collection it's likely there. But don't expect any bargains. 0 -
I was there once on a sunday morning. In that time I saw only about 1/3 of the show. Fatstrat is right. 0 -
If the weather is cool, don't over dress. It gets hot in the building with so many people. Buy ammo as you leave as it is heavy to carry. 0 -

To the contrary. IMO of the gunshows in Tulsa, of which there are probably a dozen per year, the Wannamacher show is the best for finding a bargin. Many vendors travel long distances to attend and are therefore very motivated to sell. Sunday in the afternoon is the best time for bargins.0 -
3900 tables. A lot of trading goes on among the vendors. My experience agrees with the "don't look for bargains" school of thought, but there are some really nice things. Winchester Central, though most of that is below the BertH level of pristine. Some really fine and spendy Model 99's there, some of those nylon .22's Matwor loves. Wundednee always manages to find good buy's in old .22's, and I seem to come home with books and pocket knives. A fine time is had by all. 0 -
I guess it largely depends on what you're looking for. In my old milsurp collecting days, I was always able to find specific piece bargins that beat the prices I could find anywhere else. Even online auctions.
And the trend continues w/my current interests in antique .22 rifles. Last spring I found more bargins than I had money to buy at prices I haven't seen before or since.
But you gotta be ready to snap em up when you find them. I've gone back to buy some bargins I had passed while browsing, only to find them GONE.
Truthfully I don't have much experience in the old Winchesters & Colts prices.0 -
Wundudnee has done pretty well with the old .22's as well. I am usually looking for a 99 Savage or something that is just not going to turn up at better than a fair price. But a lot are really imaginative. I have found it a good place to buy the occasional knife for a bargain price, and a good place to pick up bulk cleaning patches and such. Not that I am really going to save much after driving 600 miles and staying in a motel for a couple of nights. Oh well, at least I know a good Thai resturant, a good Cajin place and a good pizza place. 0 -
I've never made any of the big shows like Tulsa, and I keep telling myself that I am going so I might talk myself into it one of these days. I know that it would be highly exciting and educational in many ways. I really envy you folks who have all the fun at the this show every year! [8D]
High on my want list would be a scoped Winchester Model 1890 in .22 WRF caliber. Heck, I'd even consider one that is not factory scoped if the work could be deemed professional and to Winchester specs between scope blocks. I'd also like to have a commercial Mills cartridge belt in 45-70 or 40-60 caliber in very good to excellent condition. And the list goes on. The Tulsa Gun Show seems to come across like one big candy store for gun lovers!0 -

These kits are perfectly legal to obtain and possess.I dont buy,Look for,Or possess ANY type of illegal firearm.0 -

I'd never given a thought to owning a commercial Mills cartridge belt with Dog's Head buckle until someone here on GB made a comment about this belt a while back. Since then the "bug" has gotten to me and visions of 3900 tables and lots of old stuff at the Tulsa show got me to thinking about buying one again. I have in the past few months made a few online searches and found where the serviceable ones not too ragged out and stained had a low price of around $150.00 to a high for one in new like conditon for $250.00. Is that about what your friend paid Highball? I just spent another thirty minutes on google and could not find one in good condition.0 -

It is probably one of my most favorite things to do. Since I was little I tagged along with my father to the show. Now, in my late 20's I too am a part of the community. Not as a dealer, but an individual who goes to buy, sell, and trade with other individuals and some dealers. It is where you go to find something you want and to just have a good time. If you love the gun industry/business, this is a feeding frenzy.
Over time, the show has remained a top activity that I look forward too. Consistanley over the years the show and the people have not let me down. See ya there!0 -

Best I remember, the commercial belt was a couple hundred dollars. The military version had some cartouche or marking tracing it to some regiment a hundred-odd years ago...and he gave upwards of 500 bucks for it.
I held it for a moment, just to feel the history of it. ( I know..sounds like one of my old girl friends..but I REALLY didn't want to find out THEIR history..unlike the belt)...0 -

I have a Commercial Mills Belt with Dog head (not sure what Cal., a little larger than a No. 2 pencil ) that has been consigned for one of upcoming auction. I would expect it to go in the range you mention. $150.00 - $200.00 . The condition is good, soiled belt with some tattering (not bad) The buckle has aged patina and is in good shape. I know there was some mention of some looking for one. The auction will be online and the date is Nov. 17 for those interested. Or contact me for more info. We will be selling some firearms etc also.0
