taurus millenium hints wanted
I just bought a Taurus Millenium .45 and I'm after any tips you can offer me for both concealed carry and general fun shooting.

Return or sell the Taurus and buy a Colt or S&W gun, either new or used. Don't trust your life with the Taurus.0 -
I have a Millenium Pro PT140 and have not had any problems with it. I've probably put 300+ thru it. Around 250 of Winchester white box and 50 Speer Gold Dot. Not a single malfunction. I carry in either an Uncle Mikes IWB in the small of the back or in front using an JMG 7 series IWB (I got the JMG here on G.B.). It does have a looooooooong trigger pull but I like that in a CCW. I also sometimes carry a Bersa .380 and am still breaking in a Para LTC 1911. Once I'm sure of the reliablity of the Para I'll start carrying it more. I've been real happy with the Taurus. 0 -
How much did you pay for it? Did you get the limited tan frame? 0 -

i have a pt145 not a days trouble. seems to eat win HP-PP and my reloads fine, when i carry it i have a Bianchi PRO 100 IWB, fit and feel are good, 0 -
If you are going to use it for self defense all I can say is practice,practice,practice.If it comes down to it and you need it you have to know where every round is going to go. I had a MilPro and it shot way low at 15 yards. 0 -

Could not agree more. Vry happy with Taurus products BUT without practice, practice, practice any firearm might better serve as a door stop. Enjoy your Millenium...I heard good things.

Had one for a while and loved it. Carried it in a High Noon Holster IWB easily. Enjoy it, it's a great little pistol. 0 -
I hope it is a good firearm for you. I was going to purchase one at Cabela's on sale for $299.99 in 9mm or 40 but then I did a google search and found a few chat rooms that had some bad things to say about this model. Said that because of the design, the slide wears on the "sub-frame", whatever that is. After about 700 rounds, a pin will wear through and break into three pieces and make the gun inoperable. One guy said he sent his back to Taurus with in the broken condition and yes, they did send him back the gun in brand new condition. But he was still mad, because the design defect was still there and the same problem would undoubtable happen again.
I don't enjoy offering what might be bad news, but if true, it is better to get this news from me than to have your firearm stop working on you when you need it to save your life. If you want, do a google search (I didn't save my or would give a link) and see what you think. If guess if you clean the gun often and field strip it and examine it carefully (we probably should all do this anyway) you can probably spot any problems before they happn.
BTW, I have several Taurus revolvers so I am not a Taurus hater.0 -

I love my 145 and put lots of rounds thru it already without a hiccup--fewer problems than the Browning i started with. As a 30+ year rifle guy, I agree completely on the importance of practice.
BTW---Everything I read and everyone I talked to before buying said all Taurus's quality issues went away several years ago, though problems existed early this century.

There's a lot of Taurus basher's out there and are on almost any forum you go to. I've had two. My first was a PT940 that I didn't shoot much and traded it in on a Sig P220 (got a good deal). As I wrote earlier in this post, my PT140 has been flawless. Maybe I got a good one but if you spend much time on gun forums you will find people that hate any guns they've had a bad experience with. I've read people bashing Kimber's, Para's, Glock's, ect. I just bought a Para 1911 LTC and have several FTF's with it. Is it junk? Time will tell but everytime I've pulled the trigger on my PT140 it's made that bang noise and the bullet usually hits where I think it's going to. IMO, it's a good CCW. 0 -

a new Taurus is better quality than 90% of the newer colts or S&W,if people want to trash them ..they have not tried them,,all they are going by is what someone else told them..I bought my son one of the little model 94,22 revolvers,was so impressed I went and bought me a model 605 357mag,,was so happy with it my last new gun purchase was a new pt 1911 ,,I like it so much that in March I am going to buy another 1911 but in the new stainless Taurus just came out with,,[;)]0 -
I was waiting on the stainless PT1911 and couldn't wait as that money was burning a hole in my pocket so I bought the Para. This spring (or maybe tommorow if they're in stock) I'm either going to buy a Judge or stainless PT1911. 0 -
you know that you will get bad press about every gun you will ever own some folks will love them some will hate them. A weapon is as individual as the person holding it.
I have several different brands of handguns.S/W, Colt, Dan Wesson, Bersa, Jennings, Iver jhonson, and other as well as Taurus. Iv'e had times that I would like to have thrown one or two in the river usally because of somthing that I did wrong (maintance, maintance, maintance) thats what will keep your guns working the way there supposed to. I happen to like the taurus, on the whole there well made and not prone to breaking, at least not any of mine, tell me what other gun companys promise to repair there guns for life. I'm not going to name all of the taurus's by model number with a critique of them, let me just mention a couple, I have a 9mil mdl 92 that is 30 years old and has never misfired. now I wouldnt try to enter it in a match but it keeps on shooting.
I also have a 45 pt945 that is pretty accurate at 50 ft. or so and its light enough to carry comfortably allday and I would not hesitate to take a tight shot. I also have several wheel guns that are taurus and I love shooting them. all of them.You want a little advice, when your shooting try different loads as many different loads as you can find, your gun will shoot better on one of those loads when you find the load that your gun is best suited to shoot the heck out of it. and you'll figure out how your gun shoots in a way that makes you happy. dont be afraid to try new loads the more you shoot the better you will get.
