Last hunt of the season!!(warning dead stuff)

About 2 years ago I was introduced to a friend of my father who is, amongst many other things, a Vietnam Veteran, a radio amateur, a Blue Red Cross volunteer, and confined to a wheelchair. If he wants to tell his story here he will. So to make a long story short... he wasn't supposed to live, then he wasn't supposed to move ever again, then he would never live independently again...Well, he has made more than a few medical professionals look foolish. Today Elk Sr. and I took him on his first deer hunt in 10 years.

This is the field we hunted in the morning.

Remington 700, 30-06, 1.75x-5x Redfield. He used the strap to both pull the rifle into his shoulder and hold it on the tripod.

We used the ground blind to hide the chair.

It was much colder than we expected and we struggled to stay warm.

The afternoon hunt was short and sweet. Where did the other doe go?

Oh yeah in the back of the truck! One shot at 45 yards. A fine piece of shooting.

    I commend you on giving a guy the opportunity to do something he loves to do. I also enjoy your hunting stories with the photo's. However, I do want you to explain why you left the poor guy out in the cold, while you and Mr. Wiggles went to the house for a nice warm lunch? [:D] Just kidding. Looks like a great day, and congratulations to your friend on a fine kill.

    I'm sorry I did not make that clear. YES it was. Although technically still a quadriplegic he has some gross movement capabilities in his upper body including just enough motion in his hands to pull the trigger.

    Great to see you on GunBroker Vernon!!! I wondered if this might lure you into posting. This is a great community welcome aboard.

    I had a great time with you in the field. I'll try to find a place a little more senic for next year and perhaps someplace we can hunt during the early season so we can avoid the cold. Nice shot BTW, she never new what hit her.
