New Truck purchase was a Dud
2007 Truck I posted was not what the guy said. 3/36000 warranty and 7/100000 on drivetrain was false. I went by Dodgeland today in Columbia and ran the VIN number thru the service dept. Guess what? It came back with an engine restriction. I ask what that meant and the woman had no clue. I called Dodge and found out. NO WARRANTY on the Cummins. Didn't ask why but was given a file number. Now I call the ebay dealer and tell him what to do with the truck. Got the cashiers check on the table. dammit.

Man that sucks. That was a sharp truck. You'll find another. 0 -
Just got off the phone with the dealer. You think I am mad this guy is madder. He bought the truck at the midwest auction with 14,500 mile. It had been a lease vehicle. No announcement was made it had No warranty on the cummins engine. He said it is going back to the auction. Told me to hang on to the cashiers check and he would find me a real truck. He is pissed. 0 -
Well at least he is trying to help you, better than screwing you. Hope you come out fine.[:D] 0 -
Better off than my deal on a Dodge.
Got a used one, 12k 1 year warranty. Paid with a check.
First week left front wheel bearing went out, man said warranty only on internally lubricated parts. Got hard to steer, steering box bad, man said not covered by warranty. Told him what I though of him and his warranty.
2 weeks ago stopped at a long light, shifted into neutral, light went green, pushed in the clutch, can't get it in gear. Pilot bearing bad. Called the dealer again, he wouldn't return my calls. Tore into it, got a brand new clutch in it already. Someone had a problem with the pilot bearing, it ate up the transmission input shaft, they got on it with a die grinder and touched it up a little and put it back together. I had to put in a new transmission input shaft to the tune of $1060.00, man still won't return my calls. Drove up there, he said I should have brought it to him and he would have fixed it. Asked him why he doesn't return calls, this is a work truck, if it doesn't roll, I don't make any money, he didn't care and said so. Admitted that his mechanic had replaced the clutch. I almost went to jail for assault that afternoon. For things like that I have a good memory and suspect that some other folks he has ripped off in the past like this may seek some sort of revenge.
Looks like you have a better person to deal with.
Good luck with it.0 -
You guys should both post the dealers' names here to maybe help out your fellow GBers.

Not on my case. My dealer said he didn't know the truck had problems. He is going to try and find me a legitimate truck. I sent him a pic of the cashier's check, item number and told him again I was still interested in buying a truck. The ball is in his court.0 -
Ever listen to Clark Howard, he says stay away from EBay Auto unless you have a way of looking at it before buying with a mechanic. if you can then go ahead if not be carefull. 0 -

BS.. I have bought probably a couple dozen vehicles off of ebay and not had one issue. This truck probably had a chip or box on it to add horsepower. Dodge dealers computer picked it up and voided the warranty. They could have removed it prior to service and it is in the computer of the truck. Hopefully the dealer will find me another truck for around the same price. I will not buy any diesel without running it thru a Dodge dealer. By the way, I have 3 Corvettes, a malibu right now with no issues I purchased off of fleabay.0 -

I sent a pic of the check to the dealer. You know he wants to find me a truck and take the check.0 -
Going to find out tomorrow if the dealer had knowledge or not if it had a warranty from the auction. The federal paperwork when purchased says "AS IS" or Warranty on it. I would have been shown paperwork upon purchase before paying for the truck. If it is disclosed a warranty is indeed effective and it isn't .. well that is fraud. 0 -
If you want warranty work on the engine you have to contact Cummins. Dodge will not warranty our engine, we do. Their techs work on it at the dealerships but the warranty goes through Cummins. The warranties for the rest of the truck is handled through Dodge. All engine warranties are void if any mods are done to the engine or exhaust. And don't use K&N ait filters cause that will also void engine warranty. It is not because of the filter, but common lack of maintainence on the customers end. If you want a good engine to handle mods and turn ups look for a 2004 or 2004.5 common rail Cummins, they will handle the higher cylinder pressures if you decide to turn one way up. 0
