Is it just me, or is the quality of play in the NFL a joke these days?
The are only a handful of quality qb's.
Vinnie testaverdy is still playing. He was and is a mental midget. So is Rex Grossman, last years Superbowl loser.
Speaking of last years Superbowl. As a Chicago Bears fan I consider it an embarrassment that such a bad team could make it to the Superbowl.0 -
I just don't enjoy watching it like I used to. It isn't really the protest thing--I'm used to idiots--but all the penalties and reviews have just greatly disrupted the flow of the game. It's like in baseball--which already moved pretty damn slow--and now that they're reviewing everything, it's more like watching courtroom maneuvering than an exciting sport.
Tough calls, bad calls, missed calls used to be part of the game. You just dealt with it, and part of dealing with bad calls and missed calls was the display of sportsmanship and respect for the game.
I'm going to try to watch the Skins and the Packers tonight. We'll see how it goes.
And yes, trying to follow and root for the Redskins might be main source of the trouble I'm having.0 -

anyone big into the NFL, have a favorite team?
I like the Jets, which makes me a masochist. I hope Farve is worth it.
I know there are some Cowboy fans out there (mateo comes to mind)
Anyone else, who ya rootin' fer?0 -
Now there are at least 11 NFL players that have a failed drug test. When they did away with the lockout they did immediate drug testing and now they are in court protesting that it was not fair to the players. At least 3 were Redskins. No names have been released yet because of legal issues. 0 -
FCD, I think your interpretation is pretty accurate. Perhaps there is a failure at the team level, which explains why the few teams with exceptional coaching staffs have continue to flourish, like New England, Indy, and possibly Dallas.
In the past, coaching staffs built teams through the draft and maintained those players. It took years for a rookie quarterback to learn the system. With free agency these options are very limited. A team can invest heavily in good players and in a few years they walk. The teams that continue to win and have the best opportunity to become todays "dynasties" are the ones that have the great coaching staffs.0 -
