4.6 MM ?

Im watching the Military channel and there showing a HK MP5 sub-machine gun that fires a 4.6 MM bullet. They claim its got alot of penetrating power and is a excellant man stopper. What is the 4.6 MM equal to our bullet diamater? Anyone know anything about this?
