Coolest thing you ever shot
What's the coolest thing you ever shot (besides wild game)?
I was able to repeat this a few times over the course of a summer. It doesn't always work but it works once in awhile. Take a NEARLY USED UP can of shaving cream and set it on a post. Shoot at the base with a .22 and watch it sky rocket into the air spraying the remainder of the shaving cream. If you do it just right it looks like it rained shaving cream in that general area. Pretty Cool!

Propanetanks with 25 lbs of propane-charge.

The ground...about 2 miles away.
However, I was pulling the rope on a 155mm towed howitzer...so I guess dirtshooting rules...

I don't know what's cooler, pulling the lanyard or having the rounds fly over your head and being able to watch them arc from the gun to the target.0 -

It wasn't too "cool" afterwards.I was going to my stand, about 30 years ago, and could see what to me looked like a HAM, sitting in my stand.
Still dark, refinery lights in the distance siloueted it. As i got closer, it leaned-over, and fell off. Strait towards me.[:0]
About 15' above and out from me, it sprouted wings and POOWWWW!!!I blasted it! #4 3" buck....WHen it hit the ground, smoking, i saw that it was a "Great Horned Owl"
I still feel like POOP about it...[V]
You should change your name to "Owlkiller41"[;)]

About 10-15 miles of telephone line glass insulators...What a blast. The phone company was abandoning the poles and gave me permission. .223, 3006, 357, 22's, 45acp and 22mag. They are pretty tough! 0 -
Coolest thing I ever shot was the US Space Command vehicles...they came back and said "use this...our satellites can't see the other stuff". So I used the new stuff and sh0t the new paint on.
I had people come up to me and say their vehicles looked better than when they got them new.
On the weekends I shot a Mak90 in the deserts of New Mexico.....that was the coolest Rifle I ever shot.
Miss that sucker. Sold it to pay for a engagement ring for wife 1.0 -
Coolest thing I ever shot was the snow when I missed a cottontail rabbit in a cedar swamp several years ago 0 -
I have not shot guns at some of the cool things listed here, but I have taken down an old barn with homemade explosives![;)] 0 -
Back in 1970 my buddy and I were working for a private company that did road repairs in north Georgia. We were flagmen.
My buddy took about a dozen sticks of dynamite from the office trailer, and all kinds of blasting caps. Has the statute of limitations passed? For God's sake, today Homeland Security would be all over this one.
We found some abandoned cars out in the woods and had fun putting 3 sticks of dynamite under a car and blowing it up. You used a 9 volt battery. The wires on those blasting caps were long, thank God.
I filmed a couple explosions with an 8mm camera, it was great in slow motion, that car lifted off the ground four feet, you couldn't tell that live.
So, I took one stick and leaned it up against the fender of a junker. I shot it at 50 feet with my .22 Marlin. I had seen the movies, it was supposed to blow! But, nothing.
I shot it three more times, nothing. In fact, I had shot it in half!
I put the two half sticks right together, and I got 15 feet away and fired again. BOOM! Boy did that knock me on my ass.
Well, 19 year old kids are dumb, but they are also hard to kill.0 -

if any of those insulators had color, such as purple, gold/yellow or blue, green, even some clear ones you most likely destroyed several thousand dollars worth of collectors items [:o)]0
