If you carry concealed do you carry extra ammo?
If you carry a concealed handgun do you carry extra ammo?
How much? (one, two. ? magazines, speed loaders, loose rounds in pocket?)
How often? Do you always, do you never, sometimes?
Does what you carry and where you carry it make a difference?

[quote Not incidentally, I remember reading that statistically over 90%+ of civilian shooting incidents are resolved with one or fewer rounds expended by the civilian. (Much of the time ZERO shots are expended, just having a gun deters the would-be assailant).
The reality is that criminals or not, unarmed sober people don't stand around doing nothing while someone is shooting at them.
Presumeably your gun is concealed and you have the element of suprise on your side. If your assailant has a gun drawn on you already, you aren't going to be foolish enough to draw on them, right?
HERE IS A WHAT IF.
remember we are not the one that was looking for a fight it just came our way.

your driving down the road, a nut case is on his way to shoot up someplace.[xx(][xx(] (he has more then 6 bullets) he sees you and thinks this guy looks like that sob that took my milk money in the 1st grade IM going to take him out also. they might not like the color of your car. remember there a nut case, as long as i don't look or feel like rambo with a 50 cal in the trunk [:D].
and IM comfortable with an extra mag in my pocket why not carry it.
(better to have it and not need it or need it and not have it)
if the nut case has a gun pulled on you , what makes you feel he is not going to pull the trigger, looks like either way your shot and,
[:(!]AINT NOBODY GOING TO GET TO SHOOT ME FOR FREE[:(!]
when you go shopping do you take extra cash or just what you intend to spend.
(plastic does not count)
(me) im 6.6 270 i have room for an extra mag [;)],
wonder if they make a IWB holster for my DE 50 CAL. (kidding)[:D]0 -
I went out today without the speed loaders and made it home alive. I need to remind the wife not to start any big time trouble because I'm only carrying five rounds now. [:)] 0 -
im glad you made it ok[:D]as im sure everyone else is also 0 -
I always carry my tiny Seecamp LWS32 with only the one mag. I'm comforted by the thought that it packs a wallop "like a brick through a plate glass window". Seven rounds of pure fury.[;)] 0 -
I always carry extra rounds in the car, but as far as what I have on me, Just what I have in the weapon. And if I want to feel all warm and fuzzy if I get in a 'dark place', I'll grab an extra mag. 0 -
7 230gr Hydrashok's in the gun. Two more loaded magazines in the Truck.
The rounds in the gun should get me back to the Truck.0 -

Apart from the extra weight, the reason you don't walk around with 10 extra magazines if you aren't a cop or soldier, frankly, is because it makes you look like a flipping lunatic, and if you are ever involved in a shooting incident (or even if you aren't), the jury (or police) are going to assume bad faith (ie that you were looking for trouble).
I think I don't need to explain to you why its not a good idea to walk around with $10,000 cash on you, right?
In terms of "need", there is nothing whatever wrong with carrying an extra mag (or two) if it makes you feel better. Having an extra mag for an auto in particular, might be a good idea because in the heat of the moment, you might accidentally drop your main one. . .not good.
I'm just saying that if you are a civilian, the likelihood that you will ever need to fire more than one magazine's worth is extremely small, and if that situation ever happened, chances are good that more ammo wouldn't change the outcome anyway. More accuracy is always more important than more ammo.
Seen the movie "Die Hard" with Bruce Willis?
Guess what. . .chances are that ain't going to happen to you! [;)]
Now as to drawing on a drawn gun. . .you're a lot more likely to get shot trying that than not. Ultimately the decision depends on the circumstances. You'd be better off with a high likelihood of being shot than near certain likeihood of being killed, for example.0 -

i agree no one needs a bag of mags i dont carry one most of the time but i do have an extra in any car/truck im in.
As for drawing on a drawn gun, depends on the circumstances as well.
but the chance the bad guy will shot me i feel is also great
(catch 22)
IM sorry I would have to take that chance of maybe being nicked or missed, and then I would unload all I had on the sob.
(as we all have seen from the news, there is no value on life anymore)
IF I GET KILLED I GUESS IT WAS JUST MY TIME. couldnt say i did not try
again
I WILL TRY MY BEST NOT TO GET SHOT FOR FREE
i also made it back home safe today but the lady 1 mile away did not0 -
A speedloader if I carry a revolver usually .38 or an extra mag if I carry my .45. 0 -
Rarley! Where I carry makes a difference as to what I carry and if I carry any extra ammo. 0 -
Yup!! In my 1911 I carry 9 plus a spare 8 rd mag. That should be enough to let me get to my truck. Where my AR and 15-30rd mags wait for backup![:D][:D][:D]
Hey, I'm not crazy, just prepared! You never know these days!
And those Frickin Zombies ain't gonna kill themselves!!
