where'd all the primers go?

Seriously? Every place here in town is plum out of large pistol primers, and I need to reload some .45. Midwayusa is out of almost all types and brands of primers, with nothing being available for backorder.

What's going on?

    I have been laying in the reloading supplies like I use to do to ammo as the prices have gone up. Since ammo is so expensive I will buy a few boxes primes, bullets, powder, ect every week now. I do still buy ammo when the price is right.

    Ammo shortage falls into reloading to as the part are needed to make the ammo that there is a shortage of.

    The primers are going to the government for military use, the soldiers need ammo.

    We were warned about this months ago, if I remember right. So, I have been buying small pistol, large pistol and large rifle primers whenever I could and whenever I can find them. Rumors were that they were going to start making primers that would go inert after a few months, but I think that was shot down.....I make my own bullets and have for 40 years and have several hundred pounds of wheel weights and plumbers lead saved. Got enough powder saved too. All this, except the lead, is stored safely in approved gun safes. [:)][:)] Don't want to appear to be a typical gun nut, extremist, terrorist, threat to the community freak, you know. To be on the safe side, only my son and wife knows about all this stuff that I have saved.....never know who the enemy is....[}:)][;)]

    And any man that lets his wife know all that he has has a fool for an adviser, also.
    I know about a half-dozen diviorces that cost dearly..because the wife knew exactly what the man had in the way of guns and ammo.

    'That nut needs to be put in jail..all those guns, ect.." Protective orders are the order of the day, nowadays.

    Romance dictates that the wife is a partner.

    Reality dictates that it ain't neccessarly so.

    We have been thu shortages before..major and minor. You young pups cannot remember the old days... back in the sixties finding anything to reload with was sometimes a problem.
    The only solution was to lay it by when it was availible..because the famine surely will come.

    I have them! I bought 1000's of the small and large some years ago, because this has happened before, and when you need them, you can't get them!

    Probably the people in your area dont sell enough primers to warrant the hazmat fees on delivery.. We dont have a shortage here in Florida at all..

    Problem solved. Temporarily at least. Wife picked up 300 for me and my dad got another 500. Both had to go out of town to big cities, but I'm good for a few weeks at any rate.

    i friend of mine works at ALLIANT TECH which owns a company (forgot the name of the company)noted for making small arms and primers, told me they are working 24-7 and cant keep up with the demand for the military. also said to expect a large price increase[:(!][:(][}:)][}:)]

    I just got a few thousand and I'm thinking about getting more!! Problem is I need powder too[V][V] So much to buy and not enough cash!!
