Ever miss an auction you wanted bad
I spent the last 7 days watching an auction I wanted bad, all the way up to the last 3 hours.
I didn't bid because I was going to snipe it.
Well it closed before I remembered and went 60.00 less then what I was going to bid to[:(!]

It happens on rare occasion. Write yourself a note or set an alarm. 0 -

Yesterday on GB..[:(!][:(!] I located a Winchester combo 12/30.06 gun. Sold.. BIN 0 -
I wouldn't care if they were plentyful but this Steyr was the only one I had seen in unfired condition.
In my mind all week it was going to be mine and then I forgot about it the last 3 hours.
As someone said on here yesterday.
I snost and I lost.0 -
Don't forget the 15 minute rule - it sorta helps prevent sniping...
Things I've missed was not placing an opening bid with not much time to wait (hour of no) and then having to use BIN when it got relisted...0 -
Yup.
An HK-91 that LF had.
My son came up to visit, and I forgot about the auction.
Would have paid more than it went for. [:(]0 -
yep,..Remington model 870 marine magnum..w/comp/stock buttstock.[new] 4 position,..no flaws,scratchs..etc..399.00..I had high bid for 4 days and nights.,even emailed the seller w/questions..then I broke off one of my teeth..[last week [V]] when I was at the dentist getting it fixed..somebody got it for 404.00..12.00 shipping..it ended at the same time as my app.[:(!]..Loko [:D] 0 -
I bid a fair price on a gun that had no other activity for five days. Some turd comes in the last minute to steal it by a buck. [:(!] Why are some people so dishonest? Is that what they learned growing up?[V] I'm still a Boy Scout I guess...on my honor. 0 -
Several times, mostly on reloading stuff. Not stuff I wanted REAL bad, but still wanted. My schedule doesn't always allow me to be at the computer at the exact time an auction ends. 0 -
Many times. 0 -
Don't even go there I was bidiing on a new gun. then the wife wanted to go on vacation..[:(] I left the day the auction was closing, I bidded a little higher., well I was in the car stuck in the airport, missed out by 5$ [:(!]couldn't call any one to bid a few more$[V] 0 -
Yeah but only because I don't have the money, not because of timing. 0 -
NIB gun for my collection, sold for 140.00. Forgot to bid.[V][V][V] Watched one go the other day for 380.00!![:0][B)] 0 -

If there is something I really want to bid on, I tell MS Outlook to remind me 24 hours in advance.
When the reminder pops up I can ask it to remind me again anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 days.0 -
...MVP...TWO words...STICKY TABS!!
...May the "snipe" live long [:D] I always wondered why people would bid IMMEDIATELY on a new listing, I guess so they can help run the price up for themselves so they can pay more[:0]
..Yep. Ive missed several because I wont bid until the last possible moment (snipe/snipe), 15 min rule or not. Sometimes I have something scoped out...then get too busy, being retired and all ([:D]) that I plum forget, being old and all ([:D]) about the dang auction..0'...anybody seen my sticky tabs, uh, seem to have forgot where I put them....
...I missed a Colt (great little Colt Model 1903 pocket .25) that had a GREAT price on it, had no bids, that I wanted...just yesterday, because I forgot [B)]. Of course my better half is snickering her azz off at me when I do this, with the now expected gratuitous reaction from her...which gets me to laughing about it too [:)]
...When Flea-Barf still sold gun parts, I never place my max bid until there was 30 seconds left in case the closest bidder is watching, leaves little time for them to counter; but then if my max was under their auto bid max...left me little time to counter either, if I really wanted the part. LIVE by the sword, DIE by the sword...[^] [:D]

Net yet. I don't buy too many things b/c I'm cheap. But I'm sure it will happen one of these days. Like alot of others I generally snipe it. I think most people leave when there is less than a minute to go because with the 15 minute rule they think no one else will bid on it anymore. 0 -
Yes, I lost a muzzle loader (that I was pretty interested in buying) to a person who bid the exact same amount as I did. My bid comes before his in the list, but his date is shown as being before the date of mine. I still say that I was there first and it is clear in the order of bids shown on the GB record.
I was gone for a few days and checked to see that I got my gun ... and I did not get it! But the man who did got it for my bid. If he had bid more I would have just let it go, but it was the EXACT same amount!
Oh well, I'll find another! bygones!0 -
It is comforting to know that I am not THAT old and forgetsome.[^] Sorry MVP![:(] 0 -
DOG!! I know that was not directed at me...but, but, sniff...I'm taking my toys and goin' home..sniff...[;)]
