Squirrel Bait?

Anyone know of any tricks to keeping squirrels away from a feeder, short of shooting them? Decoys,scents?

    We tried "Squirrel Away" which is capsasum (sp?) powder. It doesn't bother the birds, but the squirrels hate it. However, the first time it rains or get really humid, it loses its effectiveness.

    We finally just broke down and got a squirrel feeder. It keeps them away from the bird feeders. In Feb, when they are good and fat, I will shoot them and make a big ol' pot of gumbo!

    A skirt for the feeder is the usual deterrent. A metal cone or inverted cone depending upon whether it is hanging or on a pole.

    I'd love to just shoot 'em. I hate cleaning them and I'm the only one who eats squirrel at the house. I'll see what works, thanks for the ideas. [8D]

    Must be : minimum of 10 feet away from bushes, trees or other things they can leap to feeder from, and baffle/funnel should be 5 foot up in the air.
