Is the auction side down?
Can not get to it.
This is what I get:

    I joined in November of 2006, but I was looking to sell stuff, and that is what I had to do.
    Couldn't comment on the other scenarios, such as if you only want to buy.
    They most likely still want it as age verification, I assume.

    I think the dollar amount and credit card is required for sellers only?

    Just went through it. It requires the buck because of the free email. Like yahoo etc.. It verifies who you are more or less through the credit card. No biggie, just a buck.
