Just bought a new savage 93 r17 bss
I just bought a new savage 93 17HMR, for $355.00 I paid about $490.00 in total. I bought a Bushnell 3.5-10x40 scope calibrated for the .17HMR which was $110.00 ,some mounts for $20.00, and an extra magazine for $13.00. holy crap is this thing sweet!!!! It feels and sounds like a 22lr but hits like a .223. I took it to the range this weekend, I was shooting a group the size of a dime at 100yrds. I set up some full soda cans and let em' have it, it pretty much obliterated the cans. I found pieces of aluminium all around.
I took it out this evening looking for some squirrels, I found one. I was about 45yrds away when I made the shot. the round went through his hind quarters, It was a bad shot, I could have done better, however he fell off the branch and I rushed over to him. he was dead, maybe from the fall, but he only fell about 12ft onto soft ground, I dont think it was the fall. his hind quarters were in pretty bad shape, a small entrance and a noticable larger exit, quite surprising because I was using hornaday's V-max polymer tipped rounds. I would definately encourage anyone looking for a new rimfire to buy a .17 HMR you will not be dissapointed!!!!

Ive got a Savage with a synthetic free floted Bull barrel and I love it. Savage now makes very good rifles. Mine lacks the great optics you have but still shoots good. Ive got a Ruger .17 HMR and the Savage shoots just as well. I upgraded a scope on one rifle and put its scope on a .308 now Im putting an old 3-9-32 or 36 cant remember?} on the .17 HMR. It currently has only a 4X scope riding on top, but soon as I line the .308 up it will get a better scope. I bore sited thee other two and had to make very few adjustments, I hope these are as easy. 0 -
unfortunatly we dont have prariedogs around here but we do have several different types of squirrel, fox, ground hogs, porcupine, badger, skunk, coyote, and pesky birds like crows and pigeon. sounds like enough animals to keep me occupied![:D] 0
