One more mini-14 forum
Hi all, Im new to the forums here at GB. I had some questions concerning mini-14s. lets get down to buissness, I know there not tack drivers but 4" groupings are pissing me off. Ive heard that installing a muzzle break, flash hider, compensator, ect. can increase accuracy, has any one tried some that they sell out of brownells? http://www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/catSearch.aspx?pg=1&si=True&c=4452&p=4816&ps=10
thanks for hearing me out, I would like to take care of this problem as soon as possible. thanks once again-chuck

My mini-30 accuracy was cut from 4in to 2in after I had a gunsmith smooth out my trigger pull for me.
I really like my mini-30. That turd fires everytime I pull the trigger, has never jammed(less one bad magazine), and has a pointability that fits myself perfectly. It hits what I'm looking at more often than not.
I've heard some people say that there's are trash, mine has been nothing but good to me. It's probably my favorite gun to shoot.
Ben
Which do you like better, the peanuts or the corn?
Hey, if it's a turd, then at least to me, it's the kind of turd, that leaves the TP clean on the first wipe. Like a snickers, it keeps me satisfied.

That was a fast reply DWS. What are you doing sitting on the computer waiting for my reply?
If you want to state your opinion. Fine. But doing it in a rude way like you did then don't go and throw a fit when someone does the same back to you.
But then again your better than everyone else and the rules don't apply to you. I forgot.
Your reading deficit duly noted. Will there be anything else?0 -

This is your best come back. Come on my 2 year old can do better. Where's those big words at?0 -
I tell you what DWS I'm going to the store. That will give you an hour or so to come back with a better one. 0 -
OK if we would like to get back on track for the original question/help. Working on the trigger housing group, quality ammo, brassing up the muzzel with a good flash supressor/muzzel break, good magazines and you should be able to get consistant quality performance at 200 yards plus at 1.5moa. Chief AJ worked on Mini 14's for some of the people working with the alphabet companies and they liked the work. You can do the same. my 2 cents again [8D] 0 -
Dws - If I were a person looking for someone personifying a pain in the ass...I would successfully start with you.

I agree, but would apply that to the several Mini-14s I have owned.

They must be hit or miss after production. Mine seems to group very well. 0 -

Don't like advice about not gilting a turd? Simple. Don't take it.
You may now return to your laughable posturing.0 -
so at this point I figure I should get a muzzle break, but what kind should I get. I know of a couple cheap ones but would I have more success buying something made by VAIS or another expensive company? I have heard that the key to the mini is to get something heavier to cut down resonation. I was also wondering if turning off the gas system would improve my grouping? has any one on this forum tried? I have however seen this done by the fine People at Accuracy Systems Inc.
thanks for all your imput-chuck0 -
Check out the brownells web site,Click on webbench.Thenlook for an article called project mini max.hope this works for ya,BTW, Welcome.... 0 -
it could be the bullet weight vs. the barrel twist. you said you used 55 gr., but didnt' say what twist. I was shooting about 2" groups with my SP1 1/12 barrel, and when I got a different AR with a 1/7 barrel they opened up to 4-5" and I couldn't figure out why my shooting got so bad. it was because I was using the way wrong bullet weight, they need 69 gr. so what's your actual barrel twist? 0 -
on my mini ( a later version)the barrel twist on my mini is 1:9 the barrel is 20", for this twist nothing lower that 55gr is recomended for somthing like 1:7 you should use nothing less than something in the mid 60s
thanks all-chuck0
