Local poll indicates 60% of population carries
According to a recent local poll taken at the Missoula County Fair, three out of every five people here have a concealed weapon permit. With statistics like that it doesn't surprise me that we have some of the lowest crime rates in the nation. [^]
It's too bad that California can't recognize the benefits of a legally armed citizen. Even up the odds a bit and make the bad guys think twice. [xx(]

I don't know what the numbers are here in the North Carolina mountains, but this is "keep and bear" country.
A good bet that every household has a loaded pistol and rifle close at hand. On any day, you can sit on my porch on top of this mountain, and if the wind is not too strong, you will hear gunfire from several directions. There is no rifle range in the county, these boys just toss some beer cans out onto the lawn and crank up the 9mm.
You do not hear of home invasion robberies around here. You get midday burglaries, when they know nobody is home, but no home invasions.0 -
I have no idea what the numbers are here in PA but PA is big on hunting, gun clubs, etc. Most of the home invasions that occur here unfortunately and sadly happen to elderly people who are targed because they live alone or live more out in farm country. I'm sure some PA GBers have the statistics for PA which would be great to see. 0
