The battle of...

Colt Super
...Imphal in WWII.

The British were surrounded by japs and resupplied by American air. This was in India.

I just heard of it for the first time today.

Does anyone know anything about it ??

    No, Wingate was fighting in the opposite side of India.

    This occurred in the North East.

    I read about this battle in WWII Monthly several years ago, but don't recall much about it. Were the Brits trapped on low ground?

    My pop flew flight engineer on the cargo planes, between CunMing China and (crap , i can't remember the city) India.Over the Himalayas. He said they called it "FLYIN'THE HUMP" or the "Aluminum highway"

    fishkiller: My dad did the same thing! He was a radioman/cargo handler in India, flying "The Hump."
    My dad is 6-4 and 240, they liked big guys for that job, because the cargo was often 55 gallon drums of gasoline. If one started leaking in flight, the radioman had to open the door, and manhandle the gas drum out the door.
    My dad made 78 flights, but he never mentioned the Battle of Imphal.

    There is a "Hump" museum at the base in Warner Robins Georgia.
