XD ammo.....

i just picked up a new XD .45. My question is what type of ammo should i put through it? Should i stick with a certain brand? Or does it matter? Thank you all for any help or advice you can give me.

    For target use, a simple 230 grain round nose FMJ.
    For self defense, I use 230 grain Federal Hydra-Shok JHP.

    That's what i use. Mine has never had a problem with anything i've put thru it, which includes 500+ rounds of various fmj 230 grain, and 50 rounds of hydra shok 230 grain.
    I have shot some pretty poor Wolf reloads through my sub compact xd9mm that some guy was going to throw in the garbage because he and 2 other guys couldn't get it to work without jamming.

    For target practice, I put Winchester FMJ's through mine. Self defense, I have Winchester's Rangers in it.

    Reloads for practice. As for self defense, whatever it will feed at least 200 rounds of without a jam of any kind.

    I handload 200 gr swc over 4 gr of clays. Shoots great!

    I have the .40 and put whatever I can find through it. (hollowpoint, hydrashok, fmj, cast lead) I'd assume the .45 eats anything the same way.

    Thank you all , i will take all your advice and use FMJ 230 grain for the range, and for home defense 230 grain Federal Hydra-Shok JHP.
