plug browning bar 270 new description on gun

Browning bar 270 mfd 1989. VERY well taken care of. Didn't sell last auction, but people keep bidding on the 1990 just like it without a scope. This other gun has a reserve and didn't meet it at $700.00. Just want everyone to know about mine(with NO RESERVE)!![:D][^][;)]

    maybe I should start lower and set a reserve. One gun just like this one without scope started at .01 and got to $700 but didn't meet the reserve. I'd love that person to bid on mine. No reserve so far. No bids so far.[:(]

    I know I know. I can't start it at a penny. I don't own a store and do not have the money to risk losing it for say $200.00. I know the gun is worth more but I have bad luck and my luck it would sell for only 200 or so. Can't take the risk. Wish I could, but the wife would KILL me if I didn't get my money back out of it. Thats all I want.

    You won't risk losing it for $200 if you start it at a penny no reserve and then plug it. Not many are interested in plugs with high reserves or starting prices. We do love penny no reserve auctions to bid on.

    If you start it low and get people bidding they will keep looking at it and the price will go up

    No one likes paying retail for something, everyone wants to get a deal, feel like they are getting a deal, or at least have the chance at a deal. The other guy got bids because he started at $400, not what the gun was worth retail. Starting at retail, you'll have to wait for that one person that really wants THAT gun to come along and buy it, which will more than likely happen, but it may take some time. Starting low gets several or more folks thinking about it and interested in it, which usually drives the bidding up (sometimes higher than your retail starting price). Definately not trying to talk you into a penny start, it ain't for everyone, but that IS a gun that would do well with a low start, no reserve. Plus, I'll promise you, a penny start and a plug, and no one here will let that gun go for $200.[;)] If a penny start would make you lose sleep at night then to move it faster you're gonna have to at least lower the starting price to around what the other fellow started his at. Good luck.

    That was very well said.
    Start the gun a low/bargain price. Say, $150.00 or so and plug it over here. NO one here will let it go too much below retail because one of us will bid it up to help you and to maybe, just maybe get a little lucky...........I've started alot of auctions at a penny with no reserve and have yet to be disappointed with a selling price..........

    Do like several people here do, have a friend keep bidding it up. then if he gets it have him back out of the deal.

    Not a bad idea. BUT that doesn't seem right. I call myself a good moral man and I can't do that. It's like cheating and I don't cheat or lie. Thanks for the advise though. I hope not too many people do that. Scary.

    Padding an auction is ILLEGAL in most states, not to mention unethical. I have never considered doing that even with several penny auctions I have done. A penny auction is a true auction (plus it gets buyers attention) and the market decides what the value should be. I know there are other factors like timing and who is watching during that time frame and time of year - hunting season etc. I know pride takes over on some penny auctions and guys bid more just to out-do their competitor. If you are worried about $200, I'll throw in a $350 or $400 bid.

    Another thing that might slow "some" people down, when it comes to bidding on your auction, is the fact that you have only been a member here for a couple of weeks, and have NO feedback.

    Don't get me wrong, EVERY ONE had to start somewhere, and i have bought from people with NR.
    Just saying........

    Some people start by buying a few items, even if it isn't a lot of $$, just to build up some credible feedback, before they start selling. Other jump right in selling, and do fine.

    If you start it at a penny, I'll bid the penny to get it started. [}:)][:o)][:D][:D]

    the other guy got bids because he started his at $100.00, but he has a reserve and if you "smart search" you will see that it got up to $700.00 but didn't sell. That's why I'm considering a reserve(not that high) and a lower starting bid.

    I list my guns on a different site. I can't stand reserves and BS penny auctions and sellers that want RETAIL plus++ for there wares. I list it for what I want, pay a small fee when it sells and have peace of mind. Auctions are a joke. [:(!]

    Mike, not on topic, but where is Chester, GA. The reason that I ask is that I have a guy at work that is thinking about buying his first deer rifle. We are in the Atlanta area, so it would be an in state sale, so no FFL.
    I will talk to him tomorrow.
