spider bite (sorry no pictures)
friday i got bit by a spider on my right forearm. friday evening it was the size of a dime. it just kept getting bigger everyday. tuesay morning when i woke up my arm from my wrist to about the middle of me bicep was red and hot. went to the doctor he cut open the bit to drain it and put me on some meds and gave me a shot in my hip. tuesday night i must of had a reaction to the meds because i had a hard time breathing. wife was getting ready to call 911 but she got me outside to get some fresh air and i started to calm dowm. still went to the hospital and spent the night. they wanted to keep me there longer, but i refused. don't worry i only live 5 minutes away. the redness in my are is going down but it is still hot. the doc said if by friday it isn't better to go back.

I'm thinking there is a spider on the top left of your forehead. Move slowly and carefully to the mirror and check.
Seriously, hope you get well quick. Going to the doc was the best move rather than waiting several more days. If you think you have a house infested with spiders, go to the hardward store and buy a butt-load of those sticky strips/glue boards/spider traps and put them all around the inside of your house under anything where they will fit. You might accomplish two things. Trap and kill a whole lot of spiders and bugs and find out exactly what kind of critters you have crawling around your house when you are sleeping.0 -

My son was bitten by a brown recluse about 6 years ago. Right now he has been unable to work for nearly 6 years and is on S.S. disability
since. It effected his pancrias plus other problems. Spent over 16
hospital stays in this period with many operations due to it. He was
only 44 when this happened and was over 6' and at 175 lbs.. Now still only up to 135 lbs from a low of 122 lbs.. From all the operations, his
hide aint worth much from all the scar tissue.0 -
That sounds like a painful ordeal. Hang in there.
What kind of spider was it?0 -
Take care of that bite and keep a close eye on it.

I got nailed by an unidentified Spider the end of July on the right side of my back just below the shoulder blade. Wasn't aware of being bit until in the AM when drying after a shower a piece of skin about the size of silver dollar came off in the towel. Doctor that treated me said it was defiantly a spider bite and there was no way to identify the species only he defiantly knew it wasn't a Recluse. He has had experience with them. Took some heavy duty anti-bodics, occasionally put some on some ointment he gave me, wanted me to keep it covered with a bandage, removing the tape was making things worse, so I kept the wound clean and kept a clean T shirt over it and kept close eye on the healing process, which took over a month. Doc said the biggest concern he had was infection. I was either bit while leaning against a tree in the yard or brushing up against another Tomato bush while picking the adjacent plant.
Doc told me the first few days are the crucial ones, there is the possibility of serious damage to the tissue and reactions to the possible venom inserted under the skin, particularly the Spider not being identified, if after a few days there are no reactions infection is the next big thing with bites. Basically told me if something started happening get my ass back in or to Emerengecy room at the local Hospital0 -
Hopefully with your right arm and hand out of service, you can still use your back-up hand on the left arm![:p]

Spider bites (not just from browns) can be problematic. Usually you don't feel the bite because of what it injects. You might see two or three wee red dots about a 1/4" apart. They can grow and run together in just a few days as the venom desolves your flesh. The venom is meant to liqufy because spiders have to drink their food. I've been bit 2 or 3 times, always a pain, the wife got nailed and had other reaction triggered in addition which were like poisen ivy rashes without being exposed to it. I kill ever spider I see, except those jumbos that have a 15 foot web, seen in Kansas during a big spider migration. Spooky, I give them a very wide path. 0
