Stevens 200: opinions?

Just wondering if any one out there owns or has owned a stevens 200 short action? I have read only great reviews about them, but I'd like to know your opinions. how is the trigger? I have owned an inexpensive bolt action before(remington 710 in .270win)but I thought it was a hunk of fooey, I think I put about 80rounds though it, got fed up with the recoil, price of ammo, and its shoddy construction so I sold it. I'd like to know what you think

    It's a very good gun. My dad has one. Only difference between it and the Savage is the Savage has the accutrigger. But the trigger on his Stevens is not bad. They will run circles around the 710!

    i have one in 308 win and for the money i realy like it. the trigger isnt to bad either. mine will shoot a 1 inch group at 100 yards but that is with me laying over the hood and just shooting. i'm sure it will do better if i were to shoot it of the bench.

    Depemds on how picky you are about your rifles. For the money they are a great rifle. I don't think you can get a better new rifle for the same money $250-300ish. Mine's been extremely accurate (.243). As said above they are the same barrel/action as the Savage 110 just without the accu-trigger and a cheaper stock. 10x better gun than the Rem. 710. I didn't find the trigger to be all that great, but I have felt worse. I did a trigger job and it now breaks at a crisp 2.5-3 lbs. The main complaint you'll probably have is the , IMO, overly crude stock, but nothing a little sandpaper or dremel going over to knock off the mold lines won't fix.....if it even bothers you. Don't think I'm knocking them, I highly recommend them for the price, just giving you an accurate description of them. I use mine as a knock-around coyote/truck gun. I would buy another in a heartbeat.

    (picked up a Savage pull-off stock for $20....it's not a whole lot better just liked the black better)

    It is a Savage without an accu-trigger and with an ugly gray stock....but for the money they are a steal. I have one in .223 and it will shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards all day long with any ammo that I can feed it. The only thing I am not thrilled with is the fact it has a blind magazine rather than one you can open from the bottom. However considering it was $225 brand new I really cannot complain.

    thanks for the input, mine would be used mostly for coyote hunting and longrange plinking so I'd like to find one in .223. My buddy and I both own a savage, I trust their firearms completely. they always give me and my friend awesome groups. he owns a 110 but it is an older model and does not have the accu-trigger, but its still puts the bullet right where he wants it to go.
