I have a '06 Mustang GT and it really is an awesome car. I did a couple exterior mods to it to make it a little unique, but the car is plenty fast on it's own! It's a lot of fun to drive, and I stick my foot into it whenever I can.
I posted pictures of it in the General Discussion forum under "Hot Rods" about a week ago, check it out!

We had an 05 Mustang GT. It was a nice car... powerful, sporty. a good value and handled better than the previous Mustang models. But, it was VERY noisy inside and also not very comfortable for my 6'-2" frame. I have had other sports cars so I am used to a tight fit and the Mustang just had poor ergonomics for me.

What is your budget and are you set on new?

If you're looking for a nice comfortable, but very fast car for a good price, look no further than a Pontiac GTO. Cost less than a Mustang GT and comes stock with 400HP, plus I have found that the GTO is more comfortable as a driver. Yes the Mustang looks cooler, but cool doesn't win races.

    Thanks!

An '06 Mustang GT convertible manual was my first choice. The dealer dragged their feet finding a new one in yellow so I bought this while I was waiting (over 2 weeks). It was a little more than the Mustang but well worth it!

    But it is fun!

Subaru does have a distant connection to GM through the Saab 9-2x which is a WRX wagon.

ruger270man, your right, I did not know that GM sold it's stake in Fuji Heavy Industries to Toyota. Thank you for pointing that out. GM still ownes:

    Acadian
    As?na
    Beaumont
    Bedford
    Buick*
    Cadillac*
    Chevrolet*
Corvette (as a stand-alone brand in Europe and Japan) *
    Daewoo (affiliate) *
    Elmore
    Geo
    GMC*
    Holden*
    HSV*
    Hummer*
    LaSalle
    Marquette
    Oakland
    Oldsmobile
    Opel*
    Pontiac*
    Ranger
    Saab*
    Saturn*
    Statesman
    Vauxhall*
    Viking

((*) Signifies the brand is active)

So you can buy a Opel or a Daewoo and still be buying a GM

I'm really liking the Holdens they are bringing over to the states such as the Pontiac G8 (Holden Commodore) and of course the GTO (Holden Monaro).

    The G8 top-trim-level will have the LS2.

That is exactly what I want for a car, but finances don't seem to want it as bad as I do.

Fast, sporty and AWD so I could still use it in the wintertime up here. To buy a RWD sports car up here would suck in the winter.

I have owned 4 Mustangs all GT's and now drive a Corvette. I looked at the new Mustang's when the new style came out 2 years ago but I just didnt like the style or the ride. If you like to do mod's than the Stang is your baby. The Mustang is one of the few rear wheel drive muscle cars left and for the price you cant beat it .. If you buy one you must buy the GT. I never understood why someone would buy the car with only a V6 . Total waste of what the car is all about . Put a nice set of Flowmasters on and listen to the growl.Boy does she turn heads. Make sure that you have money in your pocket for gas and for insurance. The Mustang was actually more to insure than the Vette .

Buy one that's 3-4 years old. They're still in excellent shape and you only spend 30-40% of the price of a new car. New cars lose 25% of their value the instant they get driven off the lot. Not a good investment in my opinion, IMHO.
