is that the rifle they showcased on FutureWeapons ? if so.....DAMN !!! better than the .50 and legal !! 0 -
yes it is that one 0 -
I have one and I am looking for one or many of the other 200 people that also own one, to compare results with
thanks db0 -
It's actually the Barrett M468. And it's just as much a piece of junk as the M16, primarily because it uses a direct gas recoil system. If it had an OpRod recoil system, then it'd be a different story, but as-is, it's just an M16 in 6.8 SPC.

If you are talking about the 416, you're talking about the HK rifle. Completely different animal. It does use an OpRod recoil system, and by that fact alone it makes it a far superior firearm.

Great performance, but it is very diffacult to get ammo as it it only made by Barrett. There are a few kinks that should be worked out soon. It is less effecient than the 408 Cheytac, but you have problems with both when it comes to finding loaded ammo or componets to load them yourself. I would personally love a M-99 in 416, but I'll wait for things to settle down a bit. 0 -
NO!!!!
I have a .416 not a M468
I want a m468 only cause its barrett, but im looking for .416 barrett owners..
thanks db0 -
I have put a 100 rounds down in .416 and have 250 left,
but it is hard to get ammo for sure.
my dream is a .416 10 round semi, I know it has to be out there, mill only, but trust me single shot woops the 50, get it in semi, and that the hand of god0 -

Zulu, I think you need to rest a bit....
The .416 is not a model number, it is a cartridge. Bassically a .50 BMG case shortened and necked down to .416 caliber. It is only available in the Model 99.
Read up a bit, you might learn something[:o)][:p][;)][:D]

if you dont know barrett makes that then your nmore a newb than me.
the rifle itself is barrett so its great, but the poop is the .416 round, it is un bleening beleavable what Ive seen it do, 3/4 plate steel at 800 yards, punked it like a 22 in tin0 -

I understand what you are saying, that is just the easyest way to explain the cartridge to someone who has never heard of it before. The .50 BMG is the parent case, how ever there have been many improvements and changes to the case itself to get it into it's present condition. Here are a few of the links for other covnersations we have had on this cartridge:

well said MK,
thanks

Barrett is the only current manufactuer of this round, side by side with a 50, the brass is beautiful, and the round itself is allot different than the 50 ball type. The 416 is I think solid tungsten, It is supper hard It punches clean through things, at distances the barret 50's just cant.. 0 -
I would not mind having a custom long range rig chambered in this caliber...the only thing I do not like is the limited bullet selection. 0 -
This is true, apperantly many of the 416 owners that want ammo have had a hard time getting it.
I somehow got lucky, and was able to get about 500 rounds total, but was also told that the last 50 rounds i bought might be it for a while.
Keeping my fingers X'd barret will get some more out. until then also hopeing for the ability to reload0 -
what kind of accuracy at what ranges are we talking about with this round? i missed that episode of future weapons. 0 -
This rifle and most improtant the round is acruate at 2000-2500 yards, easy, if not way more in the right hands.
Straight out of the box the round is pretty much armor piercing.
I've put CLEAN dime sized holes in 3/4 steel at 800 yards.0 -
i wish i knew how to post that little animated smiley raising the BS flag, but i dont, but i'm callin bull. but if thats for real, i would love to know what kind of optics you are using! 0 -
I can hit a 1000-1500 yard target easy useing bushnell 8-32x40 I also used a nightforce that was real good also, but just didnt like it..
as far as 2000 + Yeah thats a scope I dont have but there out there, and the 416 will get there.
Im not trying to bs you:)

I think you are speaking without knowing anything about the topic.
I still prefer my .50 BMG round.
CP0 -
I think divebomb might be fishing here, but bingeebob...the ballistics on this thing would blow your mind. It far outperforms the .50 BMG.
As for optics...it doesn't get any better than Nightforce.0 -
I have been told many times nightforce is the way to go, but I just like the bushnell
and i dont know what you mean by fishing?
IM trying to find out how to submit photos so I can show you some0 -
divebomb, i would LOVE to see some photos of your M99...
this thing sounds pretty cool, ill have to check it out, not that i could afford a $4000 rifle with ammo thats incredibly difficult to obtain. i'll stick with my .300WM, that will get me out to 1,000 i dont see a reason to go past that...0 -
