    Our bow season opened last Saturday. I had pulled muscles in my back, so I didn't go. All this week, I let it heal up, waiting for today. Get up this morning, and it is pouring. Weather was supposed to be cool and cloudy, no rain. I usually love to hunt in the rain, but as I get older, no dice. This afternoon , it is going to be sunny and a lot cooler. What really surprised me, is no one is in the woods all week. I usually see trucks on the side of the road or back in the woods. Took a drive back in the woods a few times this week, and not one truck. Tons of deer, just nobody hunting. My hunting buddy said it is like a ghost town back in the woods. He killed a nice 9 pointer yesterday. Less and less hunters every year for bow season. I guess it is a dying sport anymore. I'm going to hunt my buddies farm tonight. I strictly trophy hunt during bow season, until the last week,Then I will take a doe for the freezer. We don't shoot anything less than an eight pointer in our area. Let the little ones grow up to be nice mature bucks. Oak

    This will be the first year in many I don't have vacation time to be in the field opening day which is Oct 1 today. I may be getting an upper management job which will further my inability to get out into the woods. This year. It won't stop me though.

    I went Saturday....and hunted the Sam Houston National Forest here in Texas just North of Houston......

    Didn't have much luck with the full moon and the heat.....had a few does come into the area but nothing in range.....but it was nice to get in the woods for the first time this season....
