.50 cal recoil
I am looking for some opinions on a good muzzle brake for a .50 bmg. The gun will be built by GA precision. It will weigh about 32 pounds. Will have a Mcbros action....Any info is appreciated. Thanks

I like Barrett they come with nice muzzle breaks[8D] 0 -
The T-72 style brake isn't the prettiest thing in the world..but they beat the tube style all hollow for reducing recoil.
That is what the Barrett uses.0 -
It's an eye opener to see a 50BMG in such a light gun be tamed by any kind of muzzle brake.
It was once an ambition to hang a 50M2 BMG from the shoulder for a single shot before I left the Army but never quite had the nerve.
I might have gotten brained by the barrel so it's probably just as well.0 -
The .50 caliber isn't really such a bear.
I watched a 65 year old grandmother lie down behind the AR-50...that rig that uses an AR-15 lower coupled with a .50 BMG upper..fire her shot..reach up for another round...fire that one..then bounce off the ground and tell her husband...BUY IT !!!
Given a 30-40 pound rifle, the round 'pushes' you rather then punishing you with an abrupt 'bang'..as a light 7Mag or 340 Weatherby will.
The Weatherby 340, in a 8 pound rifle, will brutalize you.0 -
Thanks for the help everyone, I dont consider a 32 pound .50 light thought. I am still not sure yet if i want to get a .50 bmg for FCSA bench shooting or get a lower caliber for "F" class. Cant make up my mind. 0 -

I agree with that statement.
The one I shot had less recoil than my 7mm WSM. More like a 12 ga shotgun.0 -
If you get a chance try a Barrett .416
same recoil, same concussion, substantially better distance.0
