Paying for Guns

On Gunbroker. What is the best way? Im thinking money order, can they cash it immediately? I want the best way to expedite payment so i can get my gun the quickest way possible, figure it just makes it easier for everyone. BTW, im looking at this AK-74, thats why i ask.

    Credit card over the phone with your FFL faxing his license would probally be the fastest way. Most on there charge a extra 3% for using a credit card though which sucks.

    Yea i was trying to avoid using a card. And i dont understand why they charge a fee for me to pay them.

    and can they cash that immediately? I want them to be able to so they can ship my gun in the same fashion.

    The reason that they charge 3% for a CC is because that is what the CC company charges them. Major retailers just include that 3% into the price of their products. For a small dollar item, it really isn't that much. The really big retailers (WalMart, etc.) have deals worked out with the CC companies and probably pay a lot less than that, although it is still a significant amount. A gun dealer doesn't do nearly the volume that most retailers do and the good ones only mark up their products about 10%-15% (margin), giving the CC company 3% has a pretty big affect on them.

    Edit to add: SN, a postal money order is as good as cash. It is guaranteed money, so they shouldn't have to cash it to ship.

    thanks guys, when i get financially secure in about 2 days, im going to call my local gun store, see if hes got one for the same price, or close, if not, im gonna bid on this ak74. Actually i might just BIN, tog et it over with, its a good price to me.

    FYI: USPS money orders are preferred by most sellers and the only type of money orders some will accept: whether or not it's true, they're perceived as being more secure and reliable. And yes, they can cash them immediately. I also think it's the best way to pay/accept payment.

    My post office charges $1.59 for a money order, if I'm not mistaken. Since a money order has to be paid for at the time it's issued, it functions the same as cash when deposited in the bank.
