No more handgun permits in Mo.!!
Finally, I will not have to miss work to go downtown and beg the sheriff for a permit. The new law went into effect today. I bet gun dealers all across the state are happy about this. I am sure sales at gun shows will go way up.
Also, now it is legal for me to shoot anyone who breaks into my house,car or tent without risk of criminal or civil prosecution.

I am not sure who spearheaded the campaign to repeal the law but I heard that the Gov. did not hesitate to sign it.

Ain't life grand in Missouri. They figured out the background checks by the Sheriffs Office was a duplication of the Feds check off the Form 4473. Saves us a trip to SO Dept, a minimum 3 day wait and 10 bucks. The "Permit to Aquire" law was done away with and added at the end of the new "Castle Doctrine" law. It's now cash n carry from the dealer. However I believe person to person non-FFl sales still require a permit. Haven't got an answer back yet from local sheriff. 0 -

is land still pretty reasonable in MO? Where is a good place to look for property down there? Its getting way too expensive here in Wyoming. 0 -
Wonderful! I am loving Oklahoma more and more every day. Packing .org was not updated for a while but when I went and took my Concealed Weapons class a couple few months ago I was informed that all states that border OK. now recognize our permit and are free to carry into their states[:D]

I thought the only county that required that was Jackson which is mainly KC Mo. What other counties we affected by the change. 0 -

It is was state law for all counties in Missouri. Each county sheriff's office had a written application for handgun acquisition permit, with a $10 fee. 3-7 days later if you were approved, you were given an "open registration" which must be presented to the gun shop/dealer upon the purchase of a handgun. Also, say you acquired a handgun...lets say a relative gave you a handgun for free...you were still required to have the permit. Once the handgun was purchased, that "open registration" or "approved acquisition of handgun permit" is filled out by the dealer with serial numbers of the gun, etc., and sent back to the issuing sheriff. That is now your gun registration. This process is was for handguns only.0 -

To set the record straight, The NRA-ILA worked VERY closely with Missouri Gun Rights groups to get this and the Castle Doctrine passed.
The Missouri Sport Shooting Association which is the NRA Missouri Affiliate spearheaded this effort in conjunction with its affiliates.
Many gun groups in the state worked together on this and because of the cooperation, THEY GOT IT DONE!!

from what i know there arent many bad guys in montana. very safe place. probably because everyone there knows everyone has guns and also because...well....montana lacks some of the "diversity" of other states0
